Eastern polls is pure vodoo. As for Ruto beating Kalonzo thats arguable because of Meru , Tharaka Nithi , Embu, Marsabit and Isiolo . But Raila beating Kalonzo thats a Big Lie.

Now why we decided to remove Provinces from Kenyan map eas partly because of this. Ambitho should have used counties to poll Ruto and Raila and atleast she would hesitate to publish this stupidity.

Yes you can lie with polls. Even using counties - I can go to RV - and sample Kajiado, Tranzoia, one Kalenjin county - and call it representative. The same with Coast - I can go to Mombasa and Kilifi.

Anyway the old Mzungu I have seen has done good job trying to create regions..

I would do this
Mt Kenya - 10 counties.
South Rift(Maasai) - Narok/Kajiado/Samburu
Northern Kenya - I would do NEP 3, Isiolo, Marsabit, Tana River
Kalenjin - the 7 counties.
Western - 4 counties plus Tranzoia.
Luo Nyanza - 4 counties
Gusii - 2 counties.
Ukambani - 3 counties
Mijikenda/coast - all counties.

It very difficult to get sampling right - unless you do a national survey that samples from all the 47 counties - with coverage everywhere.
That will need a sample size of maybe 10,000 - and lots of people on ground - making it expensive.
But with telcom data - if safaricom was willling to share - you can easily do a telephone interview.

Anyway there are opinion polls errors that are DELIBERATE  - and those I think are innocent.

Ambitho Eastern data is crazy - because Kalonzo is doing so badly

Irungu Nyakera opinion poll - Ruto doing almost 80 percent. At 80 percent in GEMA - Ruto wins by 51 percent  with depressed turnout - 52 percent with 9- without teeming with any of OKA principles.

This one is pretty close to MOASS

Presently Ruto has 59.8 percent support in Central Kenya, more than any other part of the country including Rift Valley where he has 55.7 percent backing in North Rift and  59.4 percent in South Rift. Ruto is weakest in Nyanza where he has 21.1 percent support.

By contrast Raila is strongest in Nyanza where he has 66.1 percent support. His next best region is Coast where he has 42.3 percent and Western with 40.2 percent, compared to 38.7 and 40.1 percent for Ruto in those same regions respectively.

Raila is weakest in Central where has 25.1 percent support and Upper Eastern with 25.6 percent compared to Ruto's 55.8 percent support.

In Nairobi, Ruto has 44.8 percent support and Raila 35.7 percent. In South Rift and North Rift respectively, Raila has 26.9 percent backing and 22.9 percent.

For Raila to overtake Ruto therefore, he will need to slash Ruto's lead where it is greatest, namely in Central, Rift Valley and Upper Eastern.

When asked who they think will win, regardless of how they will vote, 49.3 percent of respondents said Ruto and 34.3 percent said Raila.

On political parties, 34 percent of respondents said they were closest to the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and 26 percent said ODM. Only 9 percent said Jubilee while 25 percent said they had no party affiliation.

On who would make the best President for Kenya, 47.1 percent said Ruto and 34.5 percent said Raila.

So does Raila have any path to 2022 victory - well he need Kalonzo, Gideon, Weta & maDVD - and he also need GEMA at almost 40 percent.

In such a scenario
Total votes will be 16324813 at 78 percent
Ruto will get 7725176   - 47.3percent
Raila will get 6472866    - 39.6 percent
Kalonzo will get 1254321  - 7.7
MaDVD will get 872444- 5.3

That is how bad things for Jakom.

If he doesnt get OKA, get GEMA at around 30 percent, 30 percent ukambani (if all three governors work extra hard - very unlikely), 50 percent of Western (maDVD has is, Ruto has is, weta is), 65 percent of Gusii, 60 percent of Coast - 50 percent of NEP/Maasai - then he max out at 38 percent.

In short Raila PORK is a long shot. Improbable. Impossible almost. Implausible

Ruto should focus on his personal security - it almost impossible for him to lose now. Ruto has built a national coalition that just hard to beat.

All he need is one OKA principle - and it's game over - even if Uhuru was to get in the mix directly and go really hard on Ruto in GEMA politics

Radio Africa breakdown - outside Nyanza - Ruto is enjoying more 40 percent support. That is almost unprecedented national appeal

Kenya has no provinces . The opinion polls keep on zoning into Provincial regions which are non existance. This done to cover up something. This is what they used in 2007 elections and came up lies Raila was rigged .Where as Kibaki won in  more Districts than Raila .

Regions or provinces exist. 2007 constitution of yore required one to win 25 percent in half the province. In this survey I see they split Eastern and Rift. They need to do the same for Nyanza - and it would be pretty good. Tom Wolf has done even better cluster Mt Kenya 10 counties into a region, cluster 5 counties of western including Tranzoia, cluster NEP 3 plus Isiolo & Marsabit - I would add Tana River, Keep the Kalenjin core of 7 counties, Cluster Narok, Kajiado, Samburu and maybe Turkana. Keep 4 counties of Coast. Split Nyanza roughly into 2 - Luo Counties - and Gusii counties.

Opinion polls are just one of the many indicators - dont ignore them - dont them them too seriously - especially in country like kenya where it likely to be manipulated or the guys doing survey have zero political insight.Opinion pollsters need to sample tribes - and they will get close to accurate.

Mizani has released some polls for Nairobi, Kiambu, Kericho and Bomet. Apart from Ngatia winning Nairobi governorship :) - the rest look solid. UDA need senate candidate - not Karen Nyamu :)

County wise is better. Provinces one is BS.
In 2007 elections Kibaki and Raila drew Province wise . Raila was beaten period District wise.
