  These are brutal dictators who think others have no right to political freedom. For the first time Tanzania has no opposition as they were all rigged out, jailed or exiled. Few would see that as great leadership.

He been ailing for a while. I was told by a Tanzanian 2 years ago that his doctors had urged him to get specialised care for heart condition but he turned it down. Preferring to continue treatment in TZ. Covid just finished him off. So sad that he didnt listen to anyone. He is a Michuki or Matiangi type. Good administrators but cannot lead well

Thanks for the info.  I missed that part.   Since chronic atrial fibrillation cannot be ruled out as a cause just by itself, I think they will run with that story.  He indeed had lousy execution even though he was coming from a good place.

Covid is the rumor.  But the heart condition seems to have been a well known fact.

Seems he have had the pacemaker since his university days. So this was chronic problem. I didnt realize that pacemakers can last that long. May be he was getting his replaced. Covid is definately what killed him. It killed all 3 of his state house advisors. His wife is rumored to be still in the hospital. I hope te leaders will now move quickly to contain covid. At least create awareness. It was his time.

COVID uses the same enzyme the heart uses for entry into the body - ACE. People with any heart conditions are at a higher risk. I hear he had Cardiac heart failure and an ego, so he was extremely vulnerable

Kenya is still not sure if a non-Kikuyu or non-Kale can be President, let alone a woman; so we are some ways off.  She seems like a good person; I fear she might be overwhelmed by the vultures Magufuli kept at bay.

The domineering stature of CCM in TZ politics gave Magufuli a free hand to pick a woman as VP. Not to take from her suitability. If Suluhu has the mettle to control the party she could last a full term. I am noticing there is quite a number of female DGs in Kenya too which is a good way to nurture inclusion. But at the national level I see nothing female on the horizon.
