I believe there was MOU that Kibaki failed to honour - and that basically had power-sharing agreement btw LDP and NAK. Kibaki was suppose to oversee new constitution and it went to Bomas. Gema were fearful of Majimbo - Raila gave them devolution - they refused and Killed Prof Mbai who had brilliantly manage to get us the German model that would be the middle of the extreme demanded by RV/Coast gang - and central gov by Gema wing- and run to Kilifi - whipped up - katiba with district focus thing like Mois of 1980s.
It would take 2007 war for GEMA to realize there were on un-sustainable path and to sue for peace.
In short - the bitterness has built up from there - to of course 2007 and ICC - and for Raila rigging of 2007 and all subsequent elections. It's been a whole generation of hatred.
That is why for Uhuru to turn 360 degrees would be inviting what faced Moi in 2002.
Moi had for a generation whipped an effective anti-Kikuyu alliance - and in 2002 turned 360 - to support a Kikuyu. Many within KANU felt betrayed and joined Raila's bandwagon.
To this day many don't know what kind of madness got into Moi to endorse Uhuru to head an essentially anti-GEMA ticket.
But you know "God" works in mysterious ways because KANU was going to kill the country and would have continued if not for that blunder. Economy had long tanked and was now decelerating.
Now I see the same "God" working in mysterious ways to relieve GEMA of their oligarchs who have for many years endagerered their lives and properties by engaging in dangerous politics of betrayal and brazen rigging.
Moi at least showed his hands very late in 2002 - but here are some insular GEMA elite showing their hand so early - and allowing folks to plan. They will be revolution in GEMA.
And after Odinga - death - Luos will be emancipated from Odinga slavery lasting nearly 80yrs now.
Why do you want to rewrite history? In 2002 Raila handed the presidency to Kibaki after killing KANU. I remember hearing the word njamba for the first time. It was used by Kikuyu peasants in praise of Raila. Kibaki made political mistakes thereafter and it cost him the 2007 election. He was declared president, but he lost the country.
Kibaki in 2003 banked on his Mt Kenya base instead of reaching out to the rest of Kenya that had elected him. The new boys in town around him Chris Murungaru and Kiraitu Murungi thought they did not need the rest of the Kenyans. Remember Chris Murungaru's words before the 2005 referedum, "we have the numbers"? Raila as minister of Roads was even banished at national events to a backseat.
Challenging Kibaki's regime was legit and in brandmarking it as trying to overthrow it is a big joke on your part. Also recall Uhuru's time at the dock at the Hague when he was asked for Raila's involvment in their ICC matters and he had nothing to say. At no time did any of the defending lawyers try to implicate the ICC cases with Raila. In fact the irony of the whole thing, Uhuru and Ruto were actually in different camps at the ICC.
Mt Kenya had no problem with Raila, actually in 92 when Kibera was still inhabited by Mt Kenya migrants majority voted for him.
Mt Kenya started started disliking him because he wanted to overthrow Kibaki as early as from first week of Kibakis presidency the 2007 happened when he ran a camapign of 41 vs 1 and Kabila adui theme. The hague happened where he was advocating for Uhuru and Ruto to be hanged where as he was the main culprit.
