How far? In 2002 - when I was new - I heard how Ruto and Kalenjin will be locked up by NARC  and forced into exile.
2007 - Ruto aka Kabuga was dead man walking?
Now in 2020 - if you tell your mother what you're saying - she'll beat you up :) again.

Ruto ni kijana ako na bidii sana.

His opponent are very lazy.

Nandi resistance guy Samoei Koitatel gave the Britsh hell for like 15yrs.

Then British told me they were gonna sign an agreement to leave Nandi as independent territory like Swaziland or Lesotho.

Only for him to be killed in cold blood.

Assassinating Ruto boss is tempting fate - Kalenjin population has grown and yet the youths are not ready to join the slums of cities and work in the industrial area.

Don't play with fire.

Assassinating Ruto is like Kagame shooting down Habyarimana plane down - that will automatically lead to many many deaths.

No I have been of the opinion that his madness will lead him to a drive by shoot out with enemies and he will be killed. You see how akina Ng'eno is that his name have suffered. Before COVID, Ruto MPS in RV were eating viboko and tear gas every other week

Ngeno - iko na vita yake na wamaasai. Maasai are going through 7 stages of accepting Narok is gone to Kipsigis. Ngeno is not really Ruto kind of guy - but now he wants to become governor in Narok - and he need Ruto.

As for Ruto - he has two unique qualities - hard work and intelligence - and courage of course.

So don't think you're facing maDVD or Kalonzo - you're facing a younger Raila.

Ruto is NOT too smart.  He had this thing bagged if he did not get too greedy and too impatient.  Ame rogwa. Why did he have to buy all these MP's and then start campaigning  five years before the elections in 2022 when he was an incumbent DP.? And what was all that  dynasty vs. Hustler nation  dig at Ouru supposed to be about. He was poking the dynasty right in the eye and then when dynasty hits back, he is now crying like a little girl.  He should have shut up, and played stupid like Moi did and  he would now be looking forward to inheriting the Gema vote with Ouru's blessings. Thats all water under the bridge now.  He only has himself to blame.

That Ng'eno guy is something else. Will he win the seat of Governor? Does he have the numbers? If not won't he be killed? So in the Kalenjin nation which tribe evicts Kikuyus? Nandis? Kipsigis? Or both

Ruto is definitely hardworking with excess testosterone. Generates enough energy to run around everywhere ala Moi. He is an articulate demagogue and makes for an excellent Kiongozi ya Upinzani.

No, he is not smart but HARE-BRAINED - clever but lacks wisdom. See how he is openly overambitious. Ungroomed and unable to hide his greed - playing Baba Nyayo 40 years out of tune - he basically spills the elite secret and exposes them to public anger by his bloodmoney generosity. Ruto democratizes graft which makes him incompatible with the oligarchy. They all invariably see him as an ill-bred unwashed outsider.

Raila had these qualities of hubris, naive activism, revolutionary, equality & justice, etc - which locked him out over the years. But he has since wizened and joined the club. Kichwa said before: Ruto needs a few losses and teargas lessons to climb that ladder. That nonsense about Hustler Nation will get him nowhere- Matiba, Tsivangirai, Besigye are a complete chapter in the study. In Africa, the oligarchy rules; any seeming “revolution” is simply a critical faction of the elite outteaming their peers and is by definition faux pas.

In life, you can do good or you can do well; Sooner than later they make you choose.

How Ruto shot himself in the foot
https://standardmedia.co.ke/article/2001372216/how-dp-ruto-shot-himself-in-the-foot

Quote
In chess, there are two kinds of players; the intelligent and the wise. Ruto played the intelligent and Uhuru the wise. An intelligent chess master banks on the queen, which is the most powerful piece that can move in one straight direction capturing the opponent’s pieces with absolute impunity. A wise chess master concentrates on the eight pawns, which although can move in only one direction, each has the potential to be promoted to a queen.

There is no formula to winning PORK; Obama came and won. Trump came and won. Uhuru was endorsed by Moi and he lost. Kibaki had GEMA in 1997 and lost. He won in 2002 just when GEMA had abandoned him - KANU breakaway gave him a huge boost. Kalonzo tried to be meek and all that - didn't go far. Raila has tried 5 times...no chance. Uhuru and Ruto under ICC - we were told were cooked - and kIchwa was here daily talking about Raila having been endorsed - not this time by local deep state alone but also the international deep state led by fellow Luo Obama - and Raila lost - Uhuru won.

Now Ruto who already has won twice as DPORK - is charting his own course. Obviously because he became the hot favorite immediately after 2017 - everyone is trying to slow him down. On their own - they cannot stop Ruto. They have therefore merged into an alliance to try stop him.But as always who will eventually bell the cat? Will all them agree to work against Ruto or as always they will splinter.

Ruto has to keep the fight for GEMA to the very last minute. Deal-making is easy but you can only negotiate from a point of strength

Ruto problem is becoming too popular too soon. That is good problem to have.

I warned you long ago about banking thud GEMA cheque. What is happening to Ruto is akin to political lynching. The parallels you paint don't match; it more like Moi-Njonjo redux. I saw him on YouTube at Sugoi farm tending maize... dude has already cut weight :)

You keep throwing analogies that betray you. Ruto has small problem with Uhuru - but Jubilee party membership are united. Ruto has to negotiate the next 1yr - and then take on Uhuru if he Uhuru will still insist on standing on the way. He should thank COVID-19 because it's going to mess up Uhuru and Raila plans BIG TIME.

So as the gang up against Ruto - COVID-19 is ganging up against them.COVID-19 will make gov unpopular and broke - and will make any referendum talk impossible.

Next uhuru should kick our ichungwa and wahome out of jubilee party. Then have their seat declared vacant. After reclaiming the two seats. He can go after a few others

They just need to recall one - likely Bahati Kimani Ngunjiri or Ichung’wa. The rest will scutter with tail between the legs. In Kikuyu Central no one will stand with Ruto.

The Moi-Njonjo analogy fits IMHO. Ruto crowned hapless Uhuru with hope of taking over later. It backfired once the meek guy strike like cobra.

COVID is new wildcard. Raila seem keen to lead recovery- it could work out great or backfire. I think he wants to dish out recovery packages or stimulus to endear himself in grassroots.

Ruto is not Njonjo. Njonjo would be a deep state kind of guy who is easy to deal with - just fire them. Ruto is a great politician that is a merger btw Raila and Tom Mboya. Don't think Ruto will be easy to bottle. Raila has tried previously by demoting Ruto to lower ministries, eventually firing him, and having him encumbered by ICC - and yet Ruto remained strong.

The good politicians are those able to balance boardroom intrigues and groundwork.

Ruto has been given the opportunity to start campaigning for 2022 - he has Jubilee intact...which is why Uhuru is outsourcing support from NASA.

The battle for Jubilee is far from over. Uhuru has the party official but Ruto has the people.

The big question is can he manage to keep GEMA when the GEMA elite will throw everything including the kitchen sink.

The Moi-Njonjo analogy fits IMHO. Ruto crowned hapless Uhuru with hope of taking over later. It backfired once the meek guy strike like cobra.

Yes a big gamble to defend gov that is hobbled by non-delivery (big 4 dead) and has COVID-19 to deal with. I doubt there will be any stimulus or recovery package - just bandaids. The depth of this COVID-19 we will know when it climaxes in August.

Definitely we won't be seeing any big-ticket development projects that could win you votes - like roads, dams, etc.

I think most of ongoing projects will stall - gov will really struggle to pay salaries - and meet recurrent expenditures. Companies are going to go under. There will be joblessness and poverty . It will be the 1990s again. The economy could even go into a recession.

Ruto strategy should be run away from it - and blame Raila for jinxing/witchcraft Uhuru and Kenya. He should claim the current plague is biblical payback time for Uhuru and Raila :) . In the meantime harambees will become the only source of real development - and he needs to double down on it.

COVID is new wildcard. Raila seem keen to lead recovery- it could work out great or backfire. I think he wants to dish out recovery packages or stimulus to endear himself in grassroots.
