COVID is global and handy excuse for Big0 flop. There will be lots of yellow corn and food aid... that the aid that Raila wants to milk. It will be tough to finger GoK for failure when Uganda, TZ, Europe and shebang equally suffer. It more likely Raila will be seen as savior if he dish out GoK and donor goodies. But it a gamble.

Njonjo was MP, Justice Minister and kitchen cabinet. Jomo was late 80s and senile so Njonjo would reshuffle, promote or fire DOs, DCs all over and VoK say Jomo did it. By 78 succession intrigues Njonjo had stuffed the bureaucracy- DCs, magistrates, Kanu ranks - with his cronies. He was powerful enough to thwart the change katiba squad lead by Jomo son-in-law Koinange.

Moi promised to share power with Njonjo - and did it for few years - but soon as he got a grip he fed him to the wolves. Exactly as now.

Ruto is not Njonjo. Njonjo would be a deep state kind of guy who is easy to deal with - just fire them. Ruto is a great politician that is a merger btw Raila and Tom Mboya. Don't think Ruto will be easy to bottle. Raila has tried previously by demoting Ruto to lower ministries, eventually firing him, and having him encumbered by ICC - and yet Ruto remained strong.

The good politicians are those able to balance boardroom intrigues and groundwork.

Ruto has been given the opportunity to start campaigning for 2022 - he has Jubilee intact...which is why Uhuru is outsourcing support from NASA.

The battle for Jubilee is far from over. Uhuru has the party official but Ruto has the people.

The big question is can he manage to keep GEMA when the GEMA elite will throw everything including the kitchen sink.

Pundit I guess you are still stuck with Ruto phantom numbers. Legco will work out exactly as Senate. Ruto crew will be kicked out except maybe Duale who will dump Ruto.

GEMA grassroots have never been with Ruto any more than they were with “Njamba” or Kalenjin “arap Mibei” ... good luck with that too.

LOL; Don't embarrass yourselves with history you barely know. Njonjo reshuffling DOs and DCs.

Let me teach you basic history. Njonjo was the AG under Kenyatta. In those days AG - was like the president of Judiciary and could to a certain extent veto parliamentary bills. And that was Njonjo's power.

After Kenyatta died - he joined politics - he became Kabete Mp and a brand new ministry was created for him - Ministry of Justice - so he could continue with his legalese - and he didn't last long because he was politically naive elitist.

During 1970s - Njonjo big role in Moi ascendency was to put judicial breaks on BBI team - that were led by Kenyatta relatives and friends - powerful Minister of State (in charge of DOs, etc - Matiangi-kibicho-Harambee house) Mbiyu Koinange - brother-in-law to Kenyatta (2nd wife was sister- not Mama Ngina -4th wife of Kenyatta) and  Kenyatta's own nephew doctor - Dr Muigai of Magana flowers- Minister of Defence - those two were very close to Kenyatta - as family - and both wanted to become PORK - they had no time for Moi - they were both highly educated - Mbiyu Koinange I think was the first Phd in kenya - graduated from Colombia university and of course Dr Muigai was medical doctor.

Njonjo - and Kibaki (Finance) - worked to make Moi - PORK within those power circles.

But Moi was very popular as an individual who had been touring the country - he had the ground game for most of 1970s as insular GEMA were busy conversing in Kikuyu and making everyone uncomfortable.

All Moi needed to avoid 1) constitution being amended and 2) being assassinated - by Mbiyu or Muigai.

This is probably same story with Ruto - avoid being assassinated and constitution being changed - because he has the ground game.

Senate was easy to intimidate. Parliament is very hard. That is like 350 members. NASA have 106mps.Only 12 are nominated. They will get the committee easy - because it voting - and NASA will play ball. Pulling 2/3 of parliament though is very tough.

Committee dogfight is likely to spill over to plenary like Ababu Justice committee NARA days. Simple majority gameshot. 2/3 maybe to hang Moses Cheboi who is barely noticeable.

But what will really show you Ruto is a nobody vs mean, cold, ruthless machinery - Jubilee NA PG will sack Washiali and Mbarire. Duale I suspect s as already cut a deal to recant Ruto heresy. And what is big about inducing or bulldozing 50 MPs? PG merely need 85 or so to hang Ruto. As usual your hubris is gigantic- once it happen you will be here saying “ground” is all that matters. Uhuru has already called PG... cause he has done the rollcall. Garliv is already prepping soft landing by claiming Muturi will rig votes against Ruto. :)

Once the whips, chairs and shebang are fumigated - Ruto impeachment will be easy-peasy - only pegged on political weather.

Lest the main point is forgotten: Ruto is facing opposition from PORK - while Moi only faced ministers not Jomo. It Njonjo who faced Moi after handing him PORK.

So Ruto vs Moi - scenario, temperament, strategy - are day vs night.

We are not in the 1970s. We have had many different strategies. Saitoti was so loyal to Moi and eventually, he got cast aside - and Moi elected to pick Uhuru Kenyatta. Saitoti had been loyal for 10yrs. Next we had Kalonzo - loyal to Kibaki - and he was not even considered. We know Raila strategies and they've ended in failure.

Ruto is on unchartered water - and that is just the nature of politics. Uhuru has definitely betrayed him.

At least he has a fighting chance and his destiny is in his hands. If he had waited like Kalonzo or Saitoti meekly and he got betrayed - he would be dead now - but now he has a fighting chance in GEMA. And that is all a politician need. And of course a bit of luck.

Ruto might not have state machinery - but he definitely has money. And in politics money triumphs political power when it starts to matter - just wait until we hit 2022 and you'll see power disappear from Uhuru as folks focus on the future. Ruto might not have media - but he has social media.

We can only make a judgment in August 2022 on the 23rd after the election. We still have exactly 2yrs to get there.
