Nusu-Mkate like it or hate it is one of those tools we acquired in 2008 and still have in our national political tool box to be deployed if we once again find ourselves in the precipice of abyss. If we can clean up IEBC to the satisfaction of both political parties and hold elections within 60 days then we do not need to deploy nusu-mkate.
Right now I do not know how we are going to resolve the issues raised by Chebukati in his letter to Chiloba and the issues which will be raised by the reasoning of the court and still hold elections within 60 days.
One option is for NASA to capitulate and go into another election with all the land mines planted by jubilee still in place and accept the rigged results. NASA has a chance to use this opportunity to clean up the electoral system and it would be a shame if they are forced to go into another election without cleaning up the system. The only realistic way the electoral system can be cleaned is if both sides agree on more time-six moths to one year. The only way that could happen is if there is a temporary cease fire arrangement for governance specifically to clean the electoral system and to drain the swamp of corruption before another presidential election is held.
Nusumkate.gov may be coming our way again but that could be more from external parties than the party bases. The belligerent talk is meant to up the stakes. Oct 17 is inevitable and RAO will beat thieves again. It is the refusal to hand over that may precipitate a nusu mkate.
That's better than what Omollo is suggesting but I would hope that if RAO clearly wins and they don't hand over, he refuses nusumkate. The world will force them to hand over power sooner or later. But RAO just now forming nusumkate will make no sense.
