The thing that scares me is what may come next. Current mps have been mia when it comes to govt oversight, basically sleeping on the job while colleccting pay. Will the next one be any better?

* Step 1, Elections time: Past performance, potential to perform, policies, any hint of a desire to serve the public ... Kenyans will not give the slightest attention to these, but they will be ready to go go as far as committing violence on other grounds.
* Step 2: People get elected into office, and they focus on eating and "recouping and earning interest" on their "investments" (i.e. handouts and bribes during Step 1.) Bugger public service.
* Step 3: Kenyans are astonished that new-and-improved lot is no better than the lot that got kicked out. They are disgusted. They promise that the greedy, selfish lot will be thrown out of office at the next elections and replaced with a new-and-improved lot.
* Step 4: Repeat from Step 1.
