They want to tax everything. Yet you find guys cheering KK government on, promising all and sundry that Kenya will overtake SA in under 10 years
. A country cannot industrialise by inveessantly taxing and raising tax on anything and everything. The result: a population with very little disposable income to spend on anything. The would be investors will also shy away and hope for countries with friendly tax regimes.
Kenya pays very little taxes compared to advanced countries, especially the US. I can breakdown the taxes I pay until you breakdown. My dog insurance is $39 a month with $18 dollars attached to it. Cars have annual tax, with city and county taxes attached. Home/property taxes in the same way. Water bill, electricty, phone bill, water bill, Gas bill, Internet bill, and all the consumer foods are all have taxes attached to it. Petrol has state and federal taxes and the list goes on. There is nothing you touch or use in the US that is not taxed and enforced, and yes, You can never escape taxes here EVER. They are a must like air you breath. When someone is dead and before the body is realeased at the morgue, government (local, state, and federal) stipulates that all outstanding taxes or debts be settled before flafgging of the body for burial. That is how ruthless these advanced countries on tax collection. If they were to institute such and collect money from every Kenyan the same way USA does, Kenya would be collecting extra 5 trillion shillings a year on the low end. Even Mursik (butter milk) I buy have few coins going to state! They are vicious! Not to mention stocks shares I buy and sell in bulk daily! You pay taxes here 24/7 360. US should be named Taxville, or Taxburg! Taxes and prudent use make the country grow and advance. Kenya is collecting less and probably mismanaged by those in charge, and that, my friends explains anemic growth over the years! When things work, and everything runs like a clockwork, folks don't mind paying taxes. One of the things I love doing is paying US taxes! It is great a hobby!
