Same Mistake Murungaru did , pretended to be generous with intelligence information to media and public gallery only to end up messing Tourism.
Ruto has put Murkomen in that office so that state officials dont sabotage his agenda . Secondly it is one of the big Ministries where one can eat . This is well known.
Now if Ruto himself was Running the Ministry thats something else .But in this era you cannot Micromanage state affairs like in Mois era. You can see 2 simple decisions can affect the country.
Where as returning the port to Mombasa was a political good thing the effects can ruin the whole SGR project and make the Same KPA go to Chinese hands .
KQ pilots calculated the start of strike to coincide with Rutos travelling to Egypt by the time Ruto returns to mediate the issues KQ will be in a big dent that IMF will start asking questions .
Now your thinking is perhaps what Murkomen is thinking. KQ can go down. You forget Kenya is almost in a Sri Lankan situatio with forex reserves and KQ is one of the Kenyas biggest earners of forex exchange. Tourism and Export business will be majorly impacted and this are sectors which employ alot of people. You need to educate your self in matters aviation how Zambian and Zimbabwean Airlines stop existing and its impact on the those countries economy.
I will tell you for free Murkomen wont survive in that Ministry for long.
Kenya Railways went down with Mois regime and it took China and UhuRuto to revive the Railway transport using SGR ( ofcourse Uhuru decided to loot ) but that was more than 20 years.
Kenya Airways going down during Rutos administration will be the biggest irony because only Kenya Kwanza have ever put KQ in its Manifesto.
Now when you talk of 400 pilots do you know the Civil aviation laws governing crew rest time and layovers. How many flights does KW have ? KQ there was a time couldnt manage Newyork flights because of shortage of qualified crew. e.g. if you were to operate that route on a daily basis you need minimum of 8 crew thats JFK alone. Now factor in international routes like London, CDG, Amsterdam, Bangkok , China etc etc. Apart from that Pilots do have leave , recurrent training( most offered abroad).
Thats when I laugh when you say the airline should be run like a Matatu business , perhaps the same thinking Murkomen has . The pilots require sufficient rest time due to safety reasons or you will having incidents like ET where pilots overshoot airport coz they are sleeping of Human error related incidences .
Having said that I preety sure Ruto is getting calls left and right about the Road and Transport Ministry. Unlike say Education Ministry where you can bufle and next day recall what you said . Transport Ministry one slight decesion and you lose billions and also your agenda. ( If KPA, SGR, and KQ go down under this regime you give room to the streotypers that we are back to Mois regime and boy Azimio has been waiting for that .)
Nonsense. We want changes in the corrupt laden stated captured ministry.Murkomen in a week has done a lot to shed the light on the mess.I hope he keeps the tempo.. whoever will cut KQ off public finances will be a hero...that money invested in building rural roads will have more impact than sustaining kQ .Ruto manifesto is clear...KQ has two years to shape up or sink.400 pilots driving 20 or 40 planes is a sign of broken system...half need to go
