Ebola Enters Nakuru Kenya : Via Burundi??
« on: September 04, 2014, 11:36:13 AM »
Yaani if this is true, this woman needs to spend the rest of her life in Prison. Finally we see how our borders are porous. I wonder how much she paid to get her son through.

The nurse allegedly said the minor and her mother had tried to enter Kenya through JKIA but were denied entry at the airport nine days ago. It is then that they headed to Burundi and managed to fly into the country on Monday.

Kemboi said samples from the minor have been taken to Kenya Medical Research Institute for testing and are expecting results on Thursday.

ha! you should see how the job is being done at JKIA. Kienyeji vibaya sana you'd wonder if Kenya is really serious. The other day I got back to NBO from Cairo on Egypt Air at 3.45 am. The immigration officers were either asleep or dozing at that time. At the counter, they just gave us some forms on ebola screening to fill and that was it heheheh.  Now how about at the border points at Lungalunga, Loitokitok, Namanga, Busia and Malaba?

If Ebola enters Kenya, the ministry of public health and the individuals involved will be sued to the last penny. At some point KQ, KAA and the other ethnic enclaves charged with immigration and border security will have to answer tough questions.Wasn't immigration handed over to a hardworking general the other day?

I think the lady and her child should be prosecuted and forcefully deported back to Burundi.  Also, are their checks in place to identify similar cases e.g. Simply check the visitors passport to see if they have been in high risk areas in the last say 6 months.  Also, make it a criminal offence to lie to an immigration officer.

The two were just trying to get a safe place BUT that is the same twisted logic used by the  gentleman who brought the virus to Nigeria.

Their should be nothing but outrage from Kenyans in regards to the callous way our boarders are being handled.

Jubliars are just jubliars. Now they are condemning some hapless woman and her child but not the airline and its president who allowed numerous plane loads of passengers in and out of the country from West Africa. Does anybody remember how Jubliars defended Uhuru's stand on KQ's obstinacy to operate the West Africa circuit? KQ and KAA exposed Kenya to Ebola many times over and it is possible actual cases of Ebola sneaked into Kenya unnoticed. They have said tests show it is not Ebola but remember we are dealing with JUBLIARs.

The lady was detected and rejected. She flew to Burundi and sneaked in. We can blame jubilee but this ebola will not chose parties. It is upon all kenyans working in immigration, health, police and borders to do their job.

This is about you and me. We can go partisan on other issues.

Obviously this is about you and me that's why all the noise about the woman alone does not satisfy.

A mother will do everything in her power for her child. Looking on the bright side, a testament for health facilities in Kenya. This mother rejected Burundi, Uganda, Rwanda & made sure she arrived in Kenya. Wish the boy quick recovery as the mother seems OK?

It doesn't make sense to send potential Ebola carriers on a gospel mission. If he has the deadly virus the gospel of Ebola will soon spread to the whole of East and Central Africa. Rejecting a sick minor is just silly. Isolate and treat otherwise you get hit with a boomerang when chicken come home to roost.

All,
Kenya being part of the EAC needs to send a protest note to Burundi in regards to this incident.  Its very callous of Burundi to allow transit of persons from high risk areas to their jiranis place without due process.   Its maddening that checks are not being done in OUR OWN COUNTRY based on what has been posted here.  The rate with which Ebola spreads and our ( EA) way of life means that the virus will spread like wildfire.

Ebola cannot and should not be approached from an individuals countries perspective, It must be tackled from a regional perspective. Is anyone concerned that cases of Ebola have been reported in the congo? Where is the surveillance ama the concerns of KEnyans will be dismissed as jubilee BS?

The lady is legally in the country- what are you going to charge her with? That she may or may not have a child infected with the ebola virus   ;D

You all should relax, do as MoH advices: wash your hands and all will be fresh

People
do not jump into conlusions here. There are a million viruses that may be confused for ebola, so unless the lab confirms it, do not spread rumors. Recently a guy from West Africa landed in NYC and it took three days to confirm it was not the virus.
He has a virus, but we dont know which one. Most of the times it will clear - unless its ebola.

Please agree with me that sending a potential carrier back into public is beyond dumb. I can see why angered Burundi thought Kenya was the best place to send him back to :-).

B,
Respectfully, the lady and teenage son are ok.  They tested negative.  I say Kenya take this up with Burundi and have other EA countries agree the need to increase vigilance. I think it was not OK to allow a high risk individual showing symptoms transit to a friendly country.  The two should have been examined at that particular port of call.
