People regard Moi as a failure , However He managed to Build International Stadiums Nyayo stadium in 1983 and Kasarani in 1987 .
Uhuru who ODMers say is a success after joining hands with Raila has only managed to refurbish Nyayo stadium.
In retrospect if we evaluated Mois rule from 1979 TO 1989 Vis a Vis Uhurus Rule 2013 to 2022 , seems Moi was a far much better performer . Its certain Moi lost it in 90s but in the 80s he did well .
Uhuru with all the money with all the technology apart from SGR (and in the 80s Railway system was very efficient ) he has not been able to perform . He now wants to peg it on BBI/Handshake .

Moi was not that bad. 80s he had to deal with global oil crisis which crushed the economy. Moi had to deal with military coup, rebuild the army and had to crush dissidents as was required as response to that event. 90s he had to deal with donor cuts that were instigated by opposition due to his strong reaction to Raila coup attempt - which then financed 50% of the budget.  So basically in 93 - when forex were withdrawn - economy crushed. And people claim it's goldenburg :). While it was donor funding at behest of opposition who deliberately crushed it to make moi unpopular.

Every president who stays long enough has to deal with a crisis. Kibaki had 2007 progrom. Uhuru has COVID-19. Let see if he will not bankrupt kenya at best or at worse drive us to a civil war.

It's very likely Uhuru if he mismanage  the next 2yrs could end up worse. Next 2yrs are the most difficult - COVID-19, political fallout with Ruto and power transition - and possibly constitutional crisis with judiciary playing rogue on him.

My free advice to Uhuru - SOBER UP and GET NEW ADVISORS.Murathe is not someone you need in the next two years. Wacha bhangi nani. Tell kenyans to tighten their seat belts and take control because the turbuelence coming you way is huge.

And if he mismanaged - Kenyatta could possibly lose everything including their land - for the revolution will come for him.

Are stadiums a priority in Kenya? Which stadium did Kibaki build in 10 years?
Better would have been to priotise sports in schools with qualified sports teachers and equip a few sports clubs. Who even uses the sports stadiums in Nairobi today? A few lousy football teams whom nobody goes to watch.
The new stadiums will be white elephants and a few straymen aka David Murathe will make a fortune with their Chinese contractors. Prepare for another financial scandal mid 2021 on how the stadium funds were spent.

Right. Stadiums are the benchmark of development now? Despots always strive to build grand monuments to legitimize their power. They initiate huge public works projects to impress the hoi polloi but it amounts to nothing in the end. They inevitably leave behind a poorer society. Moi left Kenya a broken nation.
