In 2019, transit cargo from Dar es Salaam to Uganda, Rwanda, and Burundi was at 37 percent, up from 22 percent in 2018.
On average it costs $1.80 per kilometre per container to transport goods from the port of Dar es Salaam to Bujumbura compared with $3.10 per kilometre per container from the port of Mombasa.
The turnaround of the Central Corridor has been attributed to the revival of the Central line metre gauge railway. This may have prompted Kenya Railways — after two decades of neglect — to rehabilitate the old meter-gauge railway from Nakuru to Kisumu at a cost of Ksh3.8 billion ($35 million).

Meanwhile ke gov is busy wrestling devolved money  build highways and sgr to nowhere.

Many take magafuli as another despot who wake up at 11am for his roadside shows, however the guy has confessed sleeping only few hours while spent nights crunching numbers. Moreover, his covid handling is way above paygrade of regular Africa despot!

This is false. It cost a container from Dar to Kampala 4,500 while Kenya is 2,100usd.

Saw this and connected it with " Kizungu Mingi na hakuna kitu amesema "

The report uses percentages . This is a clever way to hide the actual cargo going through the system , secondly the report uses dollar per kilometer per container . How many Kilometers is Uganda from Dar and how many kilometers is Uganda from Mombasa .
This does not compare growth between DAR and MOMBASA . Get the figures from Mombasa and Dar and compare them equivalently . You will be suprised that even TZ itself imports substantial number of cargo through the port of Mombasa .
The main reason of rehabilitaion of old meter gauge railway from Naivasha to Kisumu is because Uhuru was denied money by China to extend the SGR . Remember his trip with Raila to China .
TZ is in the process of building SGR and same was inspired by Kenya
