Mwangi Wairia does a 35 beds ICU in 21 days

Murang'a has new 35 ICU beds with ongoing nurses training. This is 5% of the around 600 ICU beds nationally. Impressive.

I wish governors could internalize that HEALTH is their biggest function and really focus on it...and maybe rural roads. The other functions are not serious. They need to really focus on health..and this kind of thing is long overdue.

The problem most govenors think their main job is to provide development not government services.

They think their job is to build factories - and try generate income for their people - instead of focusing on what a gov exist to do...provide mundane boring services to Mwananchi

Provide public services...and let the private sector develop the county.

This milk guy has, for example, spent a lot of time talking milk and avacados..instead of health.

Am sorry but having an icu is very easy. Having qualified people to man the icu is where the problem comes in. Respiratory therapists, icu nurse, pulmonologist, an Ana esthetician’s, etc.

They are afraid focusing on health means salaries for nurses and doctors with nothing to steal. Catwalk Waiguru has killed health in Kirinyaga.

The change in CDF laws has enabled MPs to really focus on schools which were last renovated in the 70s. But with fools like SOnko transferring core functions while being cheered by equally clueless county assembly and captured senate, seems governors will be running all over.

There is need for common sense development philosophy training for governors. By investing in health services you solve poverty among households more than you would by distributing avocado and banana seedlings.

It has not been easy if we have only had 580 beds since independence. Once we have the infrastructure in place these will easily learn on the job. How do train an ICU nurse without an operational ICU??

Very true. Govt will go for the cheaper solution and import them from Cuba and China.
