He is a dubious analyst but I think he has a point.

The usual delusional Makau doing his Raila thing.Last time he was also running. Uhuru is not a fool ... Raila is being led to the kraal as usual.Moi did it.Kibaki did it severally. And Uhuru turns is now on.Ruto is building his own base while Raila is kaput... waiting for Uhuru tosha that will never come.BBI term ended nobody heard about any serious deliberations. Its was extended  for another six months...that are about to end... without anybody even noticing.Their report will come and it will be trashed. Raila is being mollified so Uhuru has no opposition to gov policies and projects. No okoa Kenya demos and boycotts. After Uhuru term is about done...he will get dropped.

Of course smart alec overreached and spooked Uhuru.. Ruto is being taken to the cleaners. Dark Forces Theory doesn't cut it. All the acts by Uhuru against Ruto - does it bear repeating? - Matiang'i promotion, anti-graft witch-hunt, Kamandas hurling insults, bodyguards withdrawn. Ruto has basically lost the incumbency vantage point to Raila.

What he says here . . .
Quote
A do-over of the 2008 violence is not possible in the Rift. But it pays politically to keep that illusion alive. I believe neither Ruto, nor any elites in the Rift Valley, would countenance a repeat of 2008.

I couldn't agree with more. I don't understand how people believe that a PEV repeat is looming on the horizons. It won't ever happen, at least not in a long while.

You're so right with Makau. PEV was not spontaneous contra to the Karim Khan defense. It had been stoked for months by the politicians. Presently the pivotal nature of the RV diaspora vote - particularly the Kikuyu - make it impossible to incite violence. Any secret plotting would be sniffed out by the NIS. Ruto has no PEV card - it would be an easy own goal with Raila as the principal beneficiary - exactly like 2008.8) Ruto would lose votes, his people would die in droves, his ICC case resurrected.

You know about nothing on Kalenjin.Read some history or at least ask Gusii diaspora in Rv.Kalenjin are warriors like Maasai. They just don't wear shugas. For centuries Kalenjin society has been organized as martial community. Kalenjin traditional war infrastructure doesn't need inciting or funding or organization or training. There is standing warrior ageset regimented into companies..each clan knows their divisions and their roles. The scale of war depends on the nature of war cry.More often a village or two can raise enough warriors to defend or attack.WSR is now the undisputed leader of Kalenjin...and if war cry was sounded it would erupts in all Kalenjin corners with intensity you have not seen.No Kalenjin would be allowed to stay at home.I hid severally in 2007 as some went house to house conscripting those like us who refused.2007 was Kalenjin lending helping hand to Luos and Raila who were getting massacred.2007 was child play. Its mostly eviction and blocking roads to stop Kibaki sending killlers troops to Western and towns. This no some few chinkroro or mungiki ...this would a 6m plus people at war... everyone doing their thing...all synchronized by traditional knowhows

Nancy the Terrible again? I did read Kriegler carefully... the NIS knew and reported on Kalenjin PLANNED mayhem but were ignored by GoK who imagined only the Luo would protest. No, Pundit, you are wrong that PEV was spontaneous - it was not - we all know about the sangari incitement which went on for months in the runup to the polls. NSIS [sic] Director General Michael Gichangi testified in camera - hadharani - to this effect at the KICC.

yes - HE Orkoiyot William arap Ruto commands the Mighty Kalenjin Army - Uhuru is C-in-C over the KDF, NIS, NPS and all security services - top up with Mungiki. Noone is scared of Ruto my fren - even if PEV 2 were to occur Uhuru and particularly Raila would simply RIP BIG politically. Hiyo dividend nono kabisa - an order of magnitude bigger than the PEV 1 & Hand-Cheque combo.:) Starting war is easy - controlling the outcome is near impossible. Ruto has no PEV card to play. A CARD is an advantage - a possible winning hand - not an outright loss as is the case here. Donge?

Do you think Ruto and his frens in the current RV aristocracy will just allow it to unfold? I highly doubt it. Unless Ruto is assassinated in cold blood or something like that, I cannot see a situation in which they are unable to tell excited youth to calm down and go home.

This a leverage Ruto has.Obviously when war begin things get out of control.By 3rd week in 2007 without opponents..all having fled..the warriors will turn on the wealthy and eat their wealth. There are few scenarios that could lead to war..Ruto being rigged out or kikuyu refusing to honor the deal or Ruto refusing to participate if he sense he will lose or Ruto swearing himself in...any of those will spark unprecedented war...Kalenjin are salivating at the return of the glorious days of Moi..their frustration if it doesn't happen will be vented in such scale I definitely won't be in Kenya.Ruto is the figure head of Kalenjin political ambitions.Obviously few non rv diaspora will stick around...as soon as jubilee breaks there will be mass exodus...the people down there have seen it..they know the police will fail them as always.

I don't doubt serious violence is possible in Kenya.  But with Raila "inside government" nobody should lose sleep over that.

Which are this glorious days in moi era? The most likely scenario is some kikuyu will vote for ruto and maybe an equal number also will vote for someone else. One thing for sure voter turnout in Gema will be at best 50%, just like the luhyias and coasterians. Kikuyu for the most part are avoiding investing heavily in north rift interior. Its one of the reason why Nakuru town has expanded very fast.

Before 90s - things were good - for Kalenjin - and really good for kalenjin political elite. Moi is a mixed bag. He certainly assisted many kalenjin to acquire land, jobs, and gov largesses. When economy tanked in 90s - things became bad for everyone - starting with Kalenjin farmers. In Ruto Kalenjin see a return to the political glorious days when Kalenjin were running the show.Yes I think the more turbulence in Jubilee - the more people will flee - long before the war starts if ever. People will definitely stay around town. I was passing Molo yesterday - and the town has grown so much - because most kikuyus and gusiis - long abandoned farm houses - they farm and live in towns - where security is assured. A lot of that will happen as we near 2022 unless Uhuru makes it clear he will support Ruto. Nakuru has a clear rift - kikuyus are investing towards the East - Kalenjin and Gusii towards the best. I really pity gusii because they find themselves in a war that aint theirs... anyway we have to manage our politics better. Otherwise South Sudan is where Kenya will go next. Certainly kenya is become more fragile - when people know you can cause nusu-mkate by causing chaos...or worse swear yourself in and nothing happens. Uhuru planted a very bad seed by refusing to at least press charges on Raila treason. Only Miguna paid the price as he should - for attempting treason. Now what stops say Ruto in 2022 from swearing himself in if he looses....and sparking a civil war.

Elections will be tighlty fought and won. I don't buy low turnout thing. There is more at stake than PORK - we have six elections. You may not like the PORK on ballot - but you want to have a say in MCA and Governor - or MP.

You're unhinged because you're posting so many anti-ruto posts every few hours. This is 2019. Go slow. Gichangi had no evidence of pre-planning.If he had the police would have been better prepared. He had evidence of the aftermath - the weeks after war - when people on all sides were mobilizing to defend or attack - both ODM AND PNU.
Lol - Gichangi testified that PEV was planned - what's unhinged about pointing it out?
