Disaster in the making and we have not even started paying for the SGR loan. Kenya is headed the Zambian way.

Quote
Debt repayments consumed Sh118.08 billion in the first two months of this financial year that started in July, Treasury statistics show, a jump from Sh35.08 billion recorded in the similar period a year earlier.

Rotich has a tough job. Time he started to sell public assets. For example Safaricom is worth lots of billion dollars. Dillute gov shares from 35% to  10%. I would sell Kenya Pipeline, National Oil, All Sugar companies, All shares in Kenya RE, KCB, KPLC & Kengen.

Gov is far from getting broke....it boast so many assets...

Jubilee should sell assets that they never built. Why not fight the corruption within its ranks? There are billions being looted every year.

Corruption is really a moving target. Ask the private sector. As soon as you seal one loophole - another crook has already gamed the new systems and found more loopholes. I'd budget or at least be aware that part of budget will be stolen -  that is just the reality.

We will reach a stage where we will start public hangings for corrupt govt officers.

I agree that we cannot eliminate corruption but you are using this as an excuse not to fight it.  Corruption can be brought down to manageable levels like any other vice in the society.  We cannot eliminate robbery, rape, murder, etc but we cannot ignore them either. There is a threshold where a society can live with certain vices. Corruption in Kenya is through the roof and if Ruto was not embodiment of corruption I think the reasonable RV Pundit who emerges once  in matters that are not tied to Ruto would agree with us that at this level, it is a national crisis  closely tied to our economic woes.

The whole lot is corrupt. I am only supporting corrupt but effective leaders. What we need is to urgently reverse the Ndegwa commission recommendation of 1970s and have stringeths rules for public servants including Mps, PORK and name them - basically decree that you cannot  ran any business or own or buy any shares or any property for duration of your services - and if you must - this need to be approved by some ETHICAL COMMISSION - which will thoroughly vet where you got the money.

Those are the kind of reforms we need. Otherwise shouting Ruto is more corrupt than there Kenyatta who took 30B from SGR is nonsense.

He actually took 40B from the first phase and the second one another cool 17B.
The Ndegwa commission recommendation has to be reversed yesterday better than today. It was the beginning of many evils in Kenya. If a governor like Obado can accumulate upto 5B in 5 years and Kidero over 9B what about the occupant of SH and his deputy?
There are no angels in politics.

It may take a Greece style of cutting to straighten up the country. Politicians are still in denial.
