Let them keep their thing to Raila. Parliament should enact laws that in it's wisdom are needed.

If they cancel Duale, Muturi & Murkomen visas actually they can. Diplomatic and economic pressure is very effective. In unique situations even kids can be thrown out of western schools.

In the middle of a game, change the rules. What a circus. Going back to what Moi used to do that eroded the country's competitive advantage. Respect the law and give us good governance instead of a govt that keeps stealing, bribing and manipulating everything - elections, tax payer money, judiciary, etc. 10,000 millionaires and the rest can barely survive.

Wisdom!! How is that possible with Duale and Murkomen at the tiler.  Actually these laws are a blessing to NASA. The brains behind Jubilee is a gift that keeps on giving.  With the kind of political strategists that Jubilee has, NASA does not need a majority in the legislature.

Let them keep their thing to Raila. Parliament should enact laws that in it's wisdom are needed.

Talked to some senior jubilee strategist...The whole idea behind 'Ruto election amendments' was to serve as bargain chip to counter NASA irreducible minimum.  Even jubilee idiots knows there is nothing there but false hope to fool kenyans they gave up something. Let the envoy do their thing am sure the French ambassador would care less as long as safran mopho is making money.

Indeed.    Hard to understand why they just can't keep quiet until the "international community" is called upon to "do something".   Kenya is a very stable and and prosperous African country---middle class actually---and in fact it's been ten years since we made such a call.   The regular ones for food are of a different nature, and in Moi's time, .... must run; will finish later.  But the point is that this is Kenya is independent and sovereign etc.

I understand where you are coming from with respect to the African and begging bowl.  But just looking at that letter, the envoys are totally irrational in some of the demands they are making.  Not because of sovereignty, but rather because of how little they think the Kenyan deserves to even demand of his institutions.

Sounds brilliant but I do not think they are that smart.  Ouru said that they will "deal" with the judiciary barely an hour after the ruling was made in his  now infamous-mkundu digging- meet the peoples tour.

I see your point.  Mine was a general response to this: "EU & US envoys cannot dictate to parliament" and "Parliament should enact laws that in it's wisdom are needed".  From RV Pundit.

Are they dictating to Parliament?   Is Parliament currently engaged in anything that should get questions from reasonable people?

Perhaps my remarks should have been on this thread: http://www.nipate.org/index.php?topic=5853.0   Or maybe we can take them as a link between the two threads?

The Kenyan and what he demands of his institutions.  I don't even now where to begin with that one.

Terminator:

Many humble apologies.    I accidentally deleted your "post" while trying to modify the result of a "modification"".    At the same time I realized that the "quote/edit" problem that has been reported probably arises from the fact that moderators have (suddenly?) the power to also modify (huh?) "posts" from others.   This sometimes means an accidental click on "modify" instead of "quote".

But I got the essence; see my comment on the other thread.

We have vooke in another thread talking about those same envoys allegedly forcing Raila to go back to the campaign trail. Then I see Pundit say they should only dictate to Raila but not Uhuru or Ruto.

When one is pursuing the enactment of laws that cannot ever see the light of day, one has to wonder aloud what the purpose is. I have actually ignored all this because I know the end game. Ruto can distract as many people as he wishes but wingine tuko imara. Jubilee with Ruto's advice is to use the military this time. Mark my words. Ruto wants to simply steal old style.

Why would he need to that when the previous infrastructure and personnel are in place? You still have saran morpho, safaricom, Alghurair and chiloba in place. What I know jubilee has fingered second and third string replacement for all commissioners.

Its the same thing they did in August only the military will replace the NIS and DCIO. They will also get their own Chirchir. They will be in charge of post theft containment.

There will be some killings, detentions, and house arrests. Basically it will be a military coup with two civilian heads - Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto. This, Ruto wants to happen especially if he gets wind that Raila is winning.

That talk about State of Emergency is not a joke. They are sounding out the reactions.

That is their plan. But like all things people plan and God plans.

And their footsoldiers are still hawking their MOAS?

Hopefully NASA has formulated plans to deal with this treasonous duo when the people's government is sworn in.

The most foolish thing I heard is that Ruto actually believes they can kill or detain Raila (like his father) and get away with it!

His father's constituency was in Luo and Kikuyu. When he fell out with Kenyatta, majority of KPU were Kikuyu but Kenyatta intimidated them out of the party. Jaramogi blundered because he underestimated his support in KANU and Kenyatta's unpopularity.

On the contrary you are dealing with someone - Raila - with near fanatical support outside Luoland. You detain him arrest him or kill him and you die before the sun sets!

BTW Ochuka staged the 1982 coup in revenge for Moi's mistreatment of Jaramogi.

Ok.  No big deal about the modification.  I was just saying that on the question of institutions, the Kenyan, or at least the NASA side, is demanding something resembling accountability from IEBC.  The reasons maybe political, but they are demanding more of those guys than the envoys think the Kenyan deserves.  The jubilant doesn't care, of course.  Let me correct that.  The jubilant actually cares, only if IEBC shows signs of becoming more open and accountable.  In fact for him the preference seems to be that IEBC be a veritable swamp.

The envoys are not so much interested in free-and-fair elections as in the absence of ensuing mayhem; if  elections are  seriously flawed or even stolen but hardly anyone complains, they will be OK with that.    The African is generally expected to be incapable of conducting proper elections, which is perhaps not too unreasonable, given his general record.     So, the idea is just to try and forestall cries of "international community, come quickly and help!".

On the IEBC: An interesting situation.  Several weeks in and a few weeks away from the next performance, the public still doesn't have a full picture of what exactly happened and why anyone should expect things to be better later this month.    There are a few bits of information---e.g., from the court judgement and Chebukati's memos---but they are largely incomplete when in comes to building the confidence of the public. I should replenish my stocks of popcorn and beer for what is turning out to be a very lengthy circus.
