Will they force oil marketers to sell fuel? This is nonsense. Just remove oil subsidy. Pay the old subsidies. Let market forces fix supply and demand imbalances.

If they think oil companies are in business to help them win election - they are in for rude shock.

Things will become even more elephant - as Rubis guys will simply stop operation.

Deportation papers for Rubis MD signed. Must have incited others to play hard ball - let the money hit our accounts.
It is profits stupid. Even if it is ufool's mama, she won't supply cang'aa at a loss.

This is good for Kenya power and the economy.
No need for subsidies which will kill Kenya and plunge Kenya into darkness.

Five suicides were reported on Wednesday, seven on Tuesday, totalling 12 in two days.

They are the latest in a horrific trend blamed on mental distress caused by Covid-19 effects, hard economic times and family problems.

All the victims were male and died by hanging.

The latest deaths happened in Gesonso and Ramasha in Kisii, Mathira in Nyeri, Ndanai, Sotik in Bomet and Kenol in Murang'a

Exogenous Risk due to Russia-NATO crisis
Internal election Risk - delayed investment & capital flight
This is going to go down.
Any small problem we are in Sri Lanka.
This period Uhuru need to sober up.

I used to hear KBL used to fuliza Treasury. Now it is more of a tax agent rather than a beer company working for shareholders and customers.

Quote
"I think the tax changes will be a disaster. Ten percent is too much. It will make beer and spirits very expensive. It will affect the whole ecosystem from farmers, bar owners and distributors. It will not be good for anybody," Ms Karuku said on Tuesday.

I thought it is a Russia-Ukraine crisis. Where does NATO come in?
Even countries like Japan and Australia are supplying arms to Ukraine. As far as I know they are not in NATO.
Also do not forget Kenya condemned the Russian invasion of Ukraine. It is only we are not in a position to supply arms to Ukraine, otherwise we would. :)

Greed kills.
So a business significantly raises prices - People buy less or switch to an alternative - Business lays off workers and they have no buying power - Soon nobody shows up to buy - Business closes. That's where we are headed, so be prepared.
It self destructive.
I was told today that iron sheets cost kshs1200 - regularly kshs400. That is extortion.

Business dont control price of steel or raw materials or inputs.
Business want to sell more.
The price is competitive - because of other competitors - so they dont control it.
So the problem is bigger than business.
They are only raising prices as the last resort.

Yes the cost of petrol, oil, electric, labor went up by maybe 10%, but does it warrant doubling the price of basics?. Consumers will cut back forcing factories etc to cut back, and then layoffs and then more cutbacks.  Prices need to be stabilized so as not to destabilize the whole system. More production need to come online and that is the only way to reduce prices.

Matiang'i/Magoha cheating brouhaha has choked economies built around the once vibrant higher education.

Quote
Prof Wainaina said capitation from the National Government has remained constant at Sh3 billion over the last few years despite the rising cost of running the university over the same period.

He said the reduction in the number of self-sponsored students since 2016 has seen finances dwindle.

The foolishness of the current global economic system is staggering. African peasants going hungry because of a war in Ukraine? unbelievable.

The current world order needs to collapse.

Rubber is meeting the road.

Pwani oil has shut down operations, attributing it to the shortage of the dollars that has made it difficult to pay suppliers.

With this, the Prices of cooking oil is set to shoot to an all-time high this week.
