Power must be too sweet. People hang onto it, in preference for an opulent retirement where they can enjoy their loot, even when the odds are so obviously stacked against them.

That riches, opulence, etc. cannot compete with that feeling. It's a very insightful book.
I'll check it out. Obviously this guy is willing to risk being killed or locked up in prison to voluntarily stepping down.
