Are there safeguards against such a impulsive as Trump. I bet you he will be played big time by some of these diplomats. America is going to lose big time with Trump presidency. I can imagine how China and Russia must be happy coz they know they can manipulate trump to get whatever they want and may be gain more influence.. What a mess

Pakistan is a black zone like Iran, North Korea and Russia. Has lots of nukes. Enemies with USA.

I noticed Trump uses "terrific" to describe immigrants and entities he doesn't like. Terrific also means "causing terror"

If he keeps up with this doublespeak no country is gonna take USA seriously like the boy who cried wolf. It hurts bilateral ties and effectively isolates USA.

This was gigantic mistake on part of the American voters. He is getting played openly and I wonder the people he choosing have the ability to keep him in check. He needs a no nonsense Fixer who he will be scared to disappoint. May be his daughter who he holds in high esteem can be made a defacto white house chief of Staff.. Someone needs to get this man fast before he wrecks this empire. He just needs a gatekeeper. Hopefully once he moves to DC the GOP machinery will reign him in.

The world is going through a transition period and no ones know what the outcome will be... Capitalism has caused a lot movement of wealth and inequality in the process creating a lot of anxiety. In short USA needs steady hands. Obama was a gift by gods of Atlantic to US.   His calm demeanor made USA regain most of the goodwill lost during Bush presidency on Unilateral actions..

What scares me about Trump is that he is not separating campaign rhetoric from reality. Today he just appointed one of the most hawkish general to lead defense. I hope this guy doesn't mislead him like Ronald Rumsfeld did to Bush and end up tying USA in another senseless war.

I still think if Trump is Managed properly he can become a great president because he can assuage the ego of "deplorables" while congress and other Americans fix some of the structural and long-term problems.

I was just watching a documentary on inequality focusing on NY NY Chelsea neighborhood. Jesus sometimes it crazy what capitalism and greed can do because of  the excesses. You have billionaires displacing low income renters just because they can and want to have Ritz penthouse and take kids to 40K dollars primary school.

The funny thing is that the kids of the 1% can really feel that the future is not on their side and are uneasy about the inequality they can see from their posh classes..

I wonder if we are watching a French type of revolution building up in this empire.. What happens if majority give up on this democracy .. Right now 43% of eligible to vote is not participating. They have given up. Some only vote in local elections only meaning they have no faith in the Federalism.

America right now is only functioning  because states are coming with most of the solutions. Problems are getting solved piecemeal at local localities with very little input or coordination from Federal government..

Healthcare reform, Tax reform, job growth all these are getting addressed state or town by town and it very funny to see towns in the same state under cutting each sometimes hurting the state in the long-term

Trevor Noah the host of Daily Show.. was being interviewed on NPR and he said at Daily show he was the only guy who told held a firm believe that Trump could be elected. Asked why he said because being an African he has this movie before where a buffoon or soldier lies to masses takes power and then is unable to navigate leadership..

Trump's an idiot and he ain't even the president yet. This just incoming:

China's response:

Quote
Chinese diplomat: Trump call a Taiwan 'shenanigan'

China's top diplomat called the controversial phone call between President-elect Donald Trump and Taiwan's President "a shenanigan by the Taiwan side."

"it won't at all change the 'one China' structure that the international community has agreed upon," Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said Saturday when he was asked about the call on the sidelines of a foreign policy seminar.

"I don't think it will change the 'one China' policy that U.S. administrations have adhered to over the years. The 'one China' policy is the cornerstone of a healthy China-U.S. relationship. I hope this political foundation won't be disrupted or damaged."

Trump on Friday chatted with the Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen, who passed along her congratulations,Trump's transition team said.

"During the discussion, they noted the close economic, political, and security ties exists between Taiwan and the United States. President-elect Trump also congratulated President Tsai on becoming President of Taiwan earlier this year."

But the exchange threatened to anger China even before he takes office.

The chat marks the first publicly reported call between a US President or President-elect and the leader of Taiwan since Washington established diplomatic relations with Beijing in 1979, said Bonnie Glaser, a China expert at the Center for Strategic and International Studies.

The telephone call is certain to incense China, which considers Taiwan a renegade province. It is the first major sign of the unpredictability that Trump has vowed to bring to long-held US relations with the rest of the world.

......

By Friday night, China had already reached out to the Obama administration. White House officials declined to comment on diplomatic discussions.

Unfortunately, Trump will be the one calling the shots. For example, his call with Taiwan, pissing off the Chinese, is all about Trump:

Quote
Trump wants to expand business empire to Taiwan, creating another potential conflict of interest

The mayor of Taoyuan confirmed rumors on Wednesday that US president-elect Donald Trump was considering constructing a series of luxury hotels and resorts in the northwest Taiwanese city.

A representative from the Trump Organization paid a visit to Taoyuan in September, expressing interest in the city's Aerotropolis, a large-scale urban development project aimed at capitalizing on Taoyuan's status as a transport hub for East Asia, Taiwan News reports. With the review process for the Aerotropolis still underway, Taoyuan's mayor referred to the subject of the meeting as mere investment speculation. Other reports indicate that Eric Trump, the president-elect's second son and executive vice president of the Trump Organization, will be coming to Taoyuan later this year to discuss the potential business opportunity.

The guy won't even listen to his intelligence team.  I won't be surprised if another 9-11 type catastrophe happens under his watch.

There is that.  But also Republicans take no prisoners.  They have no sense of shame or hypocrisy.  But white privilege being rubbed in our faces is starting to get old fast.

It's also come clear that Trump presidency recognises Taiwan as a nation, something which China worshiping Kenya regime cannot dare. I remember uhuru deportation of Taiwan citizens to China recently which caused diplomats chaos.

Wow, this is getting surreal:

SNL made fun of Trump's compulsive tweeting. 45 minutes later, Trump tweeted about it.

So then Alec Baldwin replies:

Two crises:

1) Mainland China emulated from renegade China "Taiwan" capitalism.

2) Mainland China has ballistic missiles (aka nuclear bombs) facing Taiwan. One of the first things I learnt as politics student. It's very precarious.

Unified China and Taiwan is like North and South Korea coming together.

Veritas,
Is true that there has been covert missions or projects between Taiwanese political elite and China's ruling congress on ways for China to undertake political reforms moving away from communism and democratizing. The whole thing about Chinesse culture of Honor is what is preventing reunification. It is interesting fact how two people of the same heritage took different pathways and one ended well off..
