There is need to upgrade substations and all those systems as one downside of the last mile is starting to be the constant power outages, national grid tripping.

Ketraco & Kenya power are investing in the network and substations. I certainly feel the power outage have gone down. You need to go to Uganda to see blackouts. Generally I think in energy sector we are not doing badly - except for the fact that PRICE is still an issue - 2-3 times what Ethiopia or Egypt or South Africa is charging. We need to focus more on coal and even more hydros. Those are cheapest source of energy...geothermal, wind and solar are damn expensive for our size of economy.
