Counties besides local/rural roads, hospitals and schools should be looking at soft infrastructure like connectivity for towns, topnotch sewerage, proper sanitation/piped water, etc. Kidero if he had a brain would ensure SGR terminate in Nairobi world class subway via concession. If I were a county; I would focus on things no other actor is doing and will do. Hospital - you got many private and missions hospital - it not very critically. Kenyans won't care less. But rural roads & bridges & clean piped water; nobody else is doing that and nobody else will do it. Open up new roads,new bridges and really have a county that has all weathered roads to every hamlet. rather than spreading money into ecds, hospitals, stadiums, markets, toilets and god knows what. Nobody really ever complained about lack of an ECD school.

Give me good rural roads & bridges and have everyone connected to clean piped water - and you've won me over.

If you have extra money then make those rural roads tarmacked. Let parents fund ecd, let churches and private sector continue dealing with health -same for other services people have alternatives.

Yes, you get them easily as there is no counter checking on transparency but the interest is no way cheaper than WB or ADB loans.

Still ridiculous cheap. Even eurobond is cheap. Borrowing outside kenya is cheap.  Gov of kenya sometimes pay 15%!! - now down to 9% when they borrow locally - and they do that every week. If it wasn't for forex risk (USD can rise easily) we should be borrowing externally.

Thats a very good endeavor. If I were governor, ill rent on as needed basis. Its much cheaper because you'll always  know your costs. But a good idea though.
