Job Scams Alive and Well in Kenya
« on: August 29, 2016, 09:18:58 PM »
I just rescued a relative from a possible job scam. Could you figure out what is wrong with the ad? In addition they are offering a pre-hiring training for which every applicant was charged Kes 5500 (that's how I knew about it. I was asked for the cash).

I then looked closely at the ad and found lots of alarm bells ringing. Toward the end they turned in to Lutheran Church bells... It is amazing serious newspapers can carry such crap
Here is the ad for the job:

... [the ICC case] will be tried in Europe, where due procedure and expertise prevail.; ... Second-guessing Ocampo and fantasizing ..has obviously become a national pastime.- NattyDread

5.5k isn't that bad.

Take a look at the major scams running for jobs in Dubai, Qatar et al with "commissions" paid upfront of up to 250k.....and there are more than enough desperate Kenyan's willing to pay.

Have a suss on Facebook.

They have been interviewing candidates for a month now. Sometimes as many as 100 jobless Kenyans turn up. Its not small money. It should't be allowed to happen even if it is a mere one shilling.

In a rotten society, anything goes.

In 2015, an "NGO" publicly conned thousands of desperate Kenyans at Kasarani stadium:

So now we have the CID investigating, meaning the bad people will be punished, right?

no legal documents to prove their authenticityNGO staff arrested in jobs saga.

We even publicly know the boss (Julius Kithome) and have their pictures:

So what?

This is Kenya.

A few months ago, we find this little gem:

Fake NGO' Re-Emerges As Jobless Youth Fall Into Trap
11 MARCH 2016

An organisation that was accused of collecting money from Kenyans on pretence that it will offer them lucrative jobs has resurfaced on Thursday after being under for six months.

The East Africa Sub-Sahara Safe Promotion Foundation-International (SSASPF) on Thursday held another meeting at Garden Estate plot 58 in Nairobi where more than 5,000 job seekers attended.

Like Waiguru, they're not worried at all.

Omollo,

The scam I mentioned is still ongoing, over one year after the buggers started.

This is from this month:
