I get the feeling you would be very happy to see a Luhya Presidential candidate like MaDvD carrying 90% of the Luhya vote. Boy wont that hand Uhuru and Ruto another 5 years on a Golden Platter.
Kalenjin did not go to Uhuru. Ruto took them out of revenge against Raila for firing him and snubbing him for the DPM post. I was as hurt by Sagana and the appointment of Madvd like Ruto You read what I wrote and I predicted that it was a mistake that will return to haunt Raila. In politics votes are rewarded and Raila did not reward Ruto.
That said, Ruto had overwhelming interests to stick with Uhuru. That is the ICC. Only his enemies could free him and that we can understand.
But the overall long-term Kale interests are not in an alliance with Kikuyus. Ruto has got what little he could get from them and realpolitik requires that he now shift gears or drown.
Luhya's need to come together and support Raila not facilitate a Jubilee regime. Tell me one benefit that will accrue to the Luhya with a Jubilee regime? What is it that Luhyas will get in Nairobi with Eunice that they aren't getting under Kidero? May be Uhuru should go for a dream team and deputize Raila
There is a better option: Uhuru steps down and names Eunice the Jubilee candidate. Man, I would vote for Jubilee albeit with a tightly clamped nose.
Jubilee has no votes in Western. Being labeled a Jubilee man is a stigma not worth carrying. I believe you refer to Washiali in Mumias. Like I said let him call a single public rally to market Jubilee Dear Pundit. Then I would know you have votes.
Even Madvd has been throwing stones at Jubilee - even though no sane person believes him. He lost credibility when he took cash to spoil Raila's votes. It was no coincidence that Raila chose Vihiga to start his tour of Western. FYI Raila's wife is an ethnic Maragoli speaking girl. Raila only deployed her once at the funeral of Aladwa's father and he nearly wiped Mudavadi out in 2013. A mistake was made where she did not return to cover the other areas.
Sonko won with some Kikuyu votes but mostly with Kamba and youth votes. It was the same for the three - Sonko, Yule Malaya wa Kahara and Kidero. Sonko owns the youth vote. Divide it and you have both the GEMA candidate and Sonko going home (as they will).
CORD will increase its share of MPs in Nairobi, keep the governorship and add Women's rep and Senator.
You don't understand politics. It all about choices. It not that Kalenjin are "lovers" with Gema - heck the PEV of 2008 says otherwises. It about what options you've got there. You either go to Raila (whom we complaned about daily -so I know when Kalenjin are not happy) or Uhuru. There is no mursik on the table - it was either taking fish or githeri. Kalenjin nation are doing great with Uhuru. If there is anybody complaining - then it a whimper from fools who though ICC would open the door for their ambitions -Giddy & Isaac- otherwise folks are looking forward to President Ruto in 2022 after Uhuru more than obvious 5yrs.
When it come to Luhya nation. They first have to come together. Right now we know Bukusu, Maragoli and others are divided. What we also know is that Jubilee has made headways in Bukusu and other subtribes like the Wanga are in Jubilee. Jubilee will struggle with Maragoli (not yet over with Mudamba son) and Busia (luo-luhyas) but I am seeing Jubilee doing way better than 5% they got in 2013.
And yet Jubilee doesn't need Luhya votes...Raila need them all. Jubilee job is to deny Raila all. Have MaDVD, Wetangula, Ababu, Jirongo and whoever else chipping votes away from CORD.
As for Nairobi - Sonko won by large margin that Kidero - and if Jubilee was just interested in governorship - they'd put in Sonko - but Sonko is just an idiot. Wamalwa has 3 things going for him. He knows his places in Jubilee hierchary, he is educated fellow and he is a luhya - and he get along with both UhuRuto. The guy is off to brilliant start in Nairobi. If Wanjiru can be convinced to be his running mate - then he is going to win Jubilee nomination - and we will see 3-4 horse race btw Sonko, Kidero and Wamalwa.
I am certainly going to vote for Wamalwa.
