Laptops for class one now being imported from China
« on: August 05, 2016, 09:14:33 AM »
I thought the laptops for schools were to be manufactured locally? So the thoussands of jobs that were to be created through this scheme have now been diverted to China.

Quote
A consignment of 5,000 laptops is today expected to land at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Nairobi from China for distribution to 370 public primary schools across the country.

Locally assembled. Nearly the whole world is importing electronics from China (and Taiwan) including Apple's Iphone. How you want Moi university (or which one) to manufacture those laptops is beyond me...they are going to assemble, distribute, train and implement the project.

The primary aim of laptops is not to provide employment - it is to arm all kenyan kids with the tools to navigate their future. Huge trans-formative investment that will pay off in 20yrs time.

According to the tender this was supposed to be one of the conditions. Now they are importing the whole set and one asks why it had to be universities to get these tenders while just any Tom, Dick and Harry and import laptops.

They cant assemble them locally?

why waste Kenyan manpower with mundane backbreaking chores when it can be outsourced to chinese labour for a fraction of cost...and plus kickbacks involved.

Typical jubilee tenderprenure procedure always has to be followed to the fine detail.

Its the reason many of us believe they took power for selfish reasons and having achieved their main goal, had no ideas hence plagiarizing Raila and generally seeking to make opposition a think tank. They say if a dog finds rotten food at some spot it keeps returning there daily. Here is why they wanted power:

1. To free Uhuru from the ICC
2. Free Ruto from the ICC
3. Pay Muhoho and Mama the money used to buy the Presidency
4. That's all

why waste Kenyan manpower with mundane backbreaking chores when it can be outsourced to chinese labour for a fraction of cost...and plus kickbacks involved.

Typical jubilee tenderprenure procedure always has to be followed to the fine detail.

I still can't believe they ran with this asinine idea over way better ones.
