Teachers Strike: TSC Resorts to Intimidation and Blackmail
« on: September 30, 2015, 05:30:07 PM »
There are more civilized ways of breaking strikes. Industrial action is recognized by law and strike breaking using strike breakers is illegal. There are no vacancies for the TSC to recruit for. There is a lawful strike.

I hope there are people foolish enough to believe this nonsense.

So the tax payer will pay twice. Replacements and if the court says pay up.
This clearly shows a lack of leadership. Where theres no leadership people perish. A generation is being ruined.
People should be demanding kids be in school no matter what. Uluru has turned it into a political issue instead of solving it.

This should never have reached this stage.

Like I indicated, the court has struck down the recruitment. There is a strike the court has determined "lawful" and lockdown and strike breaking is clearly illegal.

The TSC is so incompetent. I would like to volunteer my services for free. Like I said before I have beef with these unions. They should become saccos and step out of teacher welfare issues. It is so easy to end this so called strike, I could do it in my sleep. The unions lack tact and avoid logic.

The Employment and Labour Relations Court has stopped the hiring of 70,000 teachers.

Justice Nduma Nderi on Friday stopped the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) from recruiting 70,000 relief tutors until a case filed by an umbrella union is determined.

The judge gave the orders in an application filed under a certificate of urgency by the Trade Union Congress of Kenya.

The TSC had advertised that it intended to recruit 50,000 primary and 20,000 secondary school teachers on a three-month contract.

The deadline for submitting applications had been set for next Monday and applications were supposed to be tendered through county directors of education.

The Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut) opposed the recruitment that was advertised on September 30.

Knut Secretary-General Wilson Sossion had asked the union's branch secretaries to ensure that headteachers and principals do not cooperate in the recruitment.
