Sorry to say it buddies but it's the truth

After "fighting for social-democracy" since 1963 what did he achieve?

Yep, you already know the answer.

A big fat zero. Yaani nzilo. Yaani nil. Yaani nada..Yaani nottin' (as our Naijs brodas dey say).

Add being twangwad in the eye to the point of its ruin, long stints in the can, many under solitary confinement with a lightbulb in the concrete cell beaming on 24/7, possibly loosing a testicle or two. Those who survive all that never quite come out with the lift going all the way up to the top floor.

Listen to him speak. Misery is laced throughout his tremulous voice. He looks weather-beaten and disillusioned.

Did he achieve any of his grandiose dreams - no
Did any "change" come in his whopping 60 YEARS as an activist politician? Nope!

He admits to it himself. As M7 once chillingly said.;

 Mukwano, Kwanstituion ni kalatasi tu!

Change it a million times, nada of structural value ever changes. Leaders  in power who get things done matter. Everything else ni lip service tu!

A broken, weather-beaten man Koigi has become.

Even his house looks crumbling and weather-beaten too
All he has is some hopeless posters of JFK, Ngugi, Raira, Ken Matiba and Angela Davis among other dead people on his poorly painted walls. For solace I would imagine.

Just relax and do other things, blathees. Don't waste your 60 years like Koigi, Oloo, Makhan Singh, Pinto, Kaggia, Mboya, Ouko and so on, fighting for illusory change that never will be. There is nothing new in this world. Satan runs tings! That's why nada really changes.

Koigi looks very sad and miserable. I bet if he could do it all over again, knowing he would face jail, torture, exile, possible loss of gonads and trauma, for thankless Kwiinyans who couldn't give a flip about him now, he would not do it kapsaa kapsaaa. He should have taken the huge piece of land Moi tried to bribe him to shut him up about his activism in the early 80s with.  By now he would be a wealthy man, happy and smiling like the rest of us apolitical ones, jienjoying his sunset years swing swannngh!

Discretion is the better part of valour. Even Raira himself - who's being laughably referred to as a prince of reform, good governance blah blah blah  - was bright enough to learn this as early as the 1997 cooperation with Moi, choosing to use politics to mint moolah. Iyo tu. After seeing his father achieve zero all his political life, dying in misery.

Ooo Koigi. Pole sana my broda!

Kwiinyans. Don't end up like him!

Ni hayo tu

He is ending up like Ngugi wa Thiong'o. Senility, mediocrity, sheer incompetence, and fighting for idiotic things that don't put money in people's pockets. We have many people like those in Africa who have been fighting imaginary wars in their heads for 40+ years.

Meanwhile, Kenya's current leadership under Dr Ruto is setting up an infrastructure fund dedicated to building roads, bridges, airports, broadband, rails, stadiums, etc. Also on initial stages to take Kenya's energy from 2300 MW to 15,000+ and unleash Kenya's industrial, farming, and manufacturing revolution, building millions of affordable homes in under 10 years and massive projects that will overhaul Kenya in a decade completely. Koigis values make citizens meek, weak, and broke!

Imagination is what has sets human apart from other species.

The bridges, stadiums and all those funds are imaginations of how to line up a few pockets not about imagined dignity of a population educated and allowed to do productive work.

The American Interstate System in the 1950s changed everything. It can still change everything in Kenya. Kenya can still come up with interconnected intercounty dual roads, and Kenya in 10-15 years will dwarf the South African economy and then some. If you take away the US interstate system, the American economy will shrink almost immediately to third-world status. Been lobbying the Kenyan government to borrow even 10 trillion shillings and build massive such roads. It will pay off in under 2 years after completion even if it lines up pockets of few. Kenyans love to travel/do business on a large scale, and such roads will do economic justice in a very short while. Imagine driving 130 km per hour with no traffic and no pumps in all 47 counties. Kenya is still landlocked because of tiny roads with bumps!
Quote
American economic growth surged after the Interstate Highway System's creation, with the U.S. GDP growing by 340% ($3 trillion to $19 trillion) since its 1956 authorization. This growth was driven by reduced transport costs, increased productivity, and the creation of a more integrated national market, though some studies suggest benefits were more pronounced in already urbanized areas

Wafula Buke
At 1:35 he talks of family. Families targeted by brutal state have no land, kids who never were allowed in schools - Never stepped in school.

There is no history of white govts terrorising the white man.

Asante sana for this one. This Wafula Buke interview is probably the funniest thing I have seen all week.

Ati (paraphrased)"Miguna likes to pretend he was the toughest one of us SONU leaders yet in jail he was crying and singing songs after being beaten by the torturers"

The second funniest thing is Buke himself. He brags a lot about all his achievements and even admits that he is a braggart. And like the typical activist of the Koigian blend, claims to have been "fighting for democrazy, good governance, blah blah blah."  Yet what did he self-admittedly do when he rigged himself in to SONU? He suspended the constitution! He admits to that too! As I always say, you can't make this stuff up with these activists.

They fight dictatorship by being dictators
They fight for new constitutions by suspending their own
They fight for corruption in a corrupt way!

Isgoodcomedy!

Did I hear him say Koigi got MILITARY TRAINING in Libya and Ouganda?

The same Koigi who claims Moi was a dictator? Imagine if Koigi shot his way to power with his military training. We would all be bant - as the Gen-z's say!

Koigi would have been more of a dictator than the worst form of the same. Kapsaa kapsaaa. Look how bitter Koigi sounds. That guy with power will crush you to powder just for looking at him the wrong way!

Buke too achieved zero despite also getting military training and finywod from Nyati house to Nyayo and back. Was it worth it? Of course not. Nobody under 40 even knows who he is!

Again, discretion is the better part of valour! Buke should have just accepted the Statehouse agent's offer to betray SONU and work with gava, get paid, get jobs after graduation, keep quiet and live his life in comfort! Not serving thankless Kwiinyans and getting finywod with no results/change over decades to boot! Kwiinyans don't care!

Ni hayo tu,

Meezy

I will always honor people like Koigi,Ngugi, Orengo, Wafula, Matiba, Odinga etc the changes we have right now no matter how small are from their sacrifices. People with this DNA do not go for personal fame and fortune, Mandela, Jesus, did not die owning mansions etc, they fight for the common good and fortune only comes as a bonus. There is a saying “ you cannot stop planting a tree because you will not be there to enjoy the shade” and who is to say that people like Koigi or Ngugi are not happy? Are you in their lives? All indications are Raila died a happy family man. If you are trying to make some of us admire ticks to society like Ruto, Sudi etc, you have a long way to go, this idiots have caused more pain through their thievery and corruption than the benefits of some road that they pretend to build, why do Kenyans act like it’s a gift or a miracle when the government builds a road or dependable water supply? Are we a country of people with low expectations or our inept, corrupt governments have conditioned us this way?

Boni hung upside down stark naked and SODOMIZED with blunt objects by Idi Amin Mama's security forces.
Agather raped by the same
Boni can hardly speak given the extreme psychological trauma he experienced. Weeps openly when it comes to the sodomy part.
All for what?
To try to change an unchangeable world. Meanwhile the thankless Tznians didn't care whether he came to their rescue or not.
Was "fighting for change" worth this LIFELONG psychological trauma and PTSD? Yet Suluhu still "won"
Isapite
If I were him I would disappear permanently from the scene and go live a quiet life away from the public limelight like the rest of the millions of us

38 days of uji, ugali, beans and loads of whipping and blows. He tried to be tough through the presser but began to break down when he started talking about a fellow detainee lost in the system

Very sad.

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Especially when your so called activism leads to zero change!
