From the President today...
Quote
We are committed to investing in our young people by driving policies and programmes that expand opportunities in both employment and business.
In partnership with the World Bank, we are rolling out the KSh5 billion National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) Project, a flagship initiative that will support 100,000 youth nationwide, with 70 beneficiaries identified from each of the country’s 1,450 wards. Each young person will receive a KSh50,000 grant to kickstart their entrepreneurial journey.
Met with officials from the ministries of MSMEs, Sports and Youth, led by Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya, to ensure a whole-of-government approach. Tomorrow, all Principal Secretaries will convene to align implementation, with a follow-up engagement on Monday bringing together political leaders across the country, including governors, MPs, Members of County Assemblies and National Government Administration officials at the counties.
The NYOTA Project, alongside programmes like affordable housing, labour mobility, and digital jobs, is creating thousands of opportunities and empowering young Kenyans to drive innovation, enterprise, and sustainable development.
This program will be delivered like Hustler, with a dashboard and metrics to track the 100,000 youth receiving grants as a test run for a much bigger program coming in 2027 and beyond, if this pilot thing produces the desired result. Rumour has it that about 2 million hardworking youth with potential will be vetted from grassroots in all wards and hit with 200K each in soft loans/grants that will be revolving. Kenyan banks cannot reach youth/Gen Zs, and they have nowhere to access funds for their small hustles.

GEN-Z Kwisha, they have been defunged. Now they have to be loyal to Kenyan constitution, be crime-free, alcohol-free, and be in good standing with the community to get those grants in 2055-2026-2027. One million clean and sober 18-29 year-olds will be given grants, and trained to use compete for e-procurement for Government. United Opposition will soon cry wolf and say Gen Z has been bought, but in reality, Ruto administration is the only Government in Kenya's history to take actions that tackets youth prosperity.

Genz were fighting for a better and fair society. This is the right approach listen to them. Let them come up with ideas, setup incubators then fund ideas that can transform society and create employment.  Throwing money at the problem will not solve anything it will only lead to more misery. Not sure what kind of business one xan start with ksh 50k in kenya

When you are sober and have brain, 50K can move you to millions. I started trading stocks with $500 in 2011 and in 2025 I still trade with $500,000+ account raking about $500 every 10 minutes!
