I saw him on YouTube yesterday in Seattle.  I haven't seen anything like the naked appeals to ethnicity that this guy made maybe since 2008 at the height of post election violence.  I don't know if he thinks this will draw other Kenyans to him.  Is he just clueless?

One of the reason he was impeached, besides stealing from his Late brother's wealth, was mental illness. There were clear signs that he wasn't together upstairs, and Kenya wouldn't risk having someone like him as second in command. He was suggesting being given a go-ahead to eliminate Raila, whom he dubbed Kenya's constant problem. That was enough for people around the presidency to warn President of his unhinged deputy.  He thinks in his little head 100% of GEMA would troop to the polls and cast a ballot for him.

While that is true, I still think the way the guy came out was polarizing.  It almost seems like Mt. Kenya version of MAGA(we are already exhausted by that shit here).  Karua also tries to appeal to Kikuyu voters, but she does it without alienating the other Kenyans.  Gachagua comes off with Trumpian level of polarization; he could make people who would not touch Ruto with ten foot pole line up behind him.  Whether true or not, in Kenya, Kikuyu are seen as having enjoyed privileged access to the system for the better part of Kenya's existence, a bit like white people here; so their ethnic appeals can turn off people who would otherwise agree with the overall message.
