Globally, Sudan 🇸🇩 was the 9th largest importer of the Kenya’s Tea Leaves
Besides Tea, Kenya’s exports to Sudan was estimated as 48.2 Million USD in 2023, of course Tea being the largest
Tobacco also remains a major product that Kenya exports to Sudan, with nearly 3.6 Million USD worth of exports recorded in 2023
In the same year, Kenya's imports from Sudan was valued at 5.4 Million USD
This then means that Kenya's exports to Sudan outweighs and by far what the country imports from Sudan

Kenyans don't go to Sudan for business and tourism because it is a hotbed of violence, but Sudanese are coming to Kenya daily in droves for refuge, business, tourism, escaping violence, etc. If Kenya retaliates, people in Sudan will be utterly upset, and government hate may elevate! Kenya has cards, and Sudan has little leverage!

Kenyan tea traders are counting huge losses following the ban on imports by  Sudanese authorities.

The East African Tea Trade Association (EATTA) described the ban as critical as Sudan is ranked among the top five markets for the Mombasa-based tea auction.

The tea traders said the ban came during the holy month of Ramadhan when consumption of tea was at its highest in Sudan.
Yesterday, tea traders said some 207 containers with 400 bags each destined to Sudan were lying at the port of Mombasa while other teas were in warehouses, in the high seas and at the port in Sudan waiting for clearance.

Sudan is shooting themselves because they benefit from Kenyan tea more than Kenya. It is like a diabetic refusing insulin to survive. A few years ago, Kenya sought different markets in West Africa and expanded to Europe and America because of Sudan's tea's shelf life tussle.

Splitting DRC and Sudan is more important long time for kenya than little Tea business.

Ruto should pursue splitting of Eastern DRC - Swahili speaking - can integrate with Kenya economy than Kinshasa.
