To win elections in Kenya, you have to run campaigns differently. For a long time, I thought merit and integrity were the best campaign strategies, but Kenyans disagreed at every election since 1992. You have to get mini Kingpins from top down to the local level, nyumba kumi level. You have to use church groups, self-help groups like BodaBoda, businesses, women’s groups, village elders, sub-chiefs, chiefs, Dos, regional commissioners, etc. With this strategy, it is very hard to defeat the well-oiled Kenya Kwanza machine in place with at least 1-2 trillion campaign cash by 2026.
The few diaporans like us that think otherwise are very few, and in Kenya are also less than 20 % of the population; that explains why Kalonzo has locked Ukambani, Ruto, RV, Raila, Nyanza, and now Central cementing around Gachagua. Moraras and Okiyas will not attract even 20% because that is not how you win elections in Kenya. Ruto now has about 65-70% of the time as long as he keeps Opranya, Weta, Mdvd, Joho, Kingi and Raila in place without getting a single Kikuyu, or Kamba votes!
