I almost believed Farida Karoney, the then CS Lands boss when she said "In few months, 100% of lands will be digitized". Months came and she never spoke about it until new administration came.

How do these 99 year leases work? in 1998, this shah guy didn't renew his lease.  Then he died in 2010.  That's when the thugs pounced.  Looking at non-renewed leases and death notices to try and steal land, but what happens when your 99 year lease ends? What happens to the heirs?

You spend all the money fighting with cartels waiting for a window to punce. Even your right, you have to bribe to enjoy. It will take Kenya 10 Presidents, to just get easy land management in order. Had they registered every land from 60s, and tax it monthly like they do it here, a lot of people will not be grabbing or aspiring to own large tracks of lands. More, land taxes/rates would be enough to balance the budget easy.

Kenyan presidency and land grabbing are twins. To sort out the land mess will be suicidal so all that likes of Hasla and his successors will do is a bit of fire fighting which can turn out to be costly politically.

Titling of land, sijui digitization of records is possible with presidency directives and supervision. The 1 million acre scheme needs to be pursued to open up more land for the market. Infrastructure too. Regularization too and basic Waititu common sense to avoid demolitions.

It will take Kenya 10 Presidents, to just get easy land management in order.
