Kagame: Military Purge What is going on in Rwanda?
« on: June 20, 2023, 06:28:01 PM »
Kagame just fired two generals

Replaced his defense minister and army chief of staff

Fired 14 high ranking officers

Another 200 officers.

What is going on in Rwanda?

Those two generals have to leave rwanda ASAP. How many times has kagame attempted to assassinate Faustin Kayumba in south africa?  and every other person that crosses him?

Is Kagame's style of governance sustainable in the long-term? He has been assassinating dissidents everywhere -- in Nairobi, Brussels, South Africa....the only place he hasn't tried is the US.

In the long run, things will not end up well for Kagame. He has the majority Hutus not on his side and part of his own Tutsis also not on his side. The man has to be paranoid. That is his only survival tactic.

Experience from Ssebo and across Africa coups since independence shows military generals are no biggie. They are too focused on comfort and filling their big matumbo except where they had support of CIA mercenaries. Or in case of Sudan, where a purge was not effected as Hasla is doing.

Higher risk is with restless junior ranks.

Question is to what extent would French want to have a bite at Kagame? They have held a big axe to grind given Kagame's insistence on French culpability in the genocide.

Those two generals were fired and told to leave with no salaries and no benefits. So, clearly, they'll have to find a way to get out of rwanda without getting caught and hiding in south africa is no longer safe. Only the US is safe.

Kagame appears to have no sense of loyalty to anyone.  I don't see how this will end well for him. The rwandese are different. They seem to have this deep hatred and suspicion of each other. Why doesn't kagame do like kenya and give these generals other government posts where they can still make money?

He's always been a bloodthirsty criminal.  Anyone familiar with that part of the world knows.  A bloodbath will be how the his era ends, unsurprisingly.  Let's hope it will be quick and painless.
