Ndii Naivety is Concerning
« on: February 10, 2023, 02:43:21 PM »
He sounded good when I heard him on spice tv, but he is now increasingly just sounding out of touch with the realities on the ground and with the real poverty of kenya.

Bean counter like you counting dead bodies in morgue should respect proffesionals.

World bank already want to help Hustler Fund.

500shs out there is a lot of money.

Most people borrowed from their shops/dukas - and now these kind of hustler fund/fuliza - replaces the shops credit.

Besides relying on family, shopkeeper loan has continued to be critical to most Kenyans.

According to the survey, in a span of three years, uptake of shopkeeper loan increased three-fold to 30 per cent in 2019 from 10 per cent in 2016 - making it the most popular source of credit.

Second to shopkeeper loan was credit from family, friend or neighbour at 10 per cent in 2019 from 6.1 per cent three years ago. This is even as uptake of loans from commercial banks, microfinance institutions and Saccos declined.

Another informal source of credit that recorded tremendous growth during the period under review was the digital loan apps whose uptake increased to 8.3 per cent from 0.6 per cent.

In the future - you will have less and less people borrowing from shops/friends/relatives/neighberhours - and fulizaing/hustler fund/ tala - and 350 plus credit apps pending.

Only issues we have to guard against is excessive interest in these digital apps...and then banning people for defaulting on 500shs loans. Dukas and Friends loan is interest free - though it can cost friendship/business/ (social capital) - when people default.

So these hustler kind of small loans will help re-build mwafrika social capital and protect local business from becoming the credit providers.

This is what you morons do in US - you have 10 credit cards - Kenyans will have 350 credit cards to borrow 500 shs each.
