If a Policeman is a D+, what is an NYS? Before you run with anything Rigathi says know that he always says things before he engages his brain. He was my yearmate in campus. We were the first lot Nyayo sent to NYS to do National service. Maybe he has forgotten but if he remembers, at Gilgil we found functionally illiterate regular NYS recruits who simply could not mix - Maosmo kidogo. NYS does not give firearms training to recruits. They are only taught crowd-control and given a spade instead  for doing manual work. Training illiterate NYS on guns is a long shot. Police kill girlfriends with guns. What evil will a gun in hands of NYS do? Nairobi thugs are armed. Riggy G as usual thinking like a wheelbarrow

It hard to imagine you could be anything but a juvenile.

They will start with those guarding gov services before they go to those guarding banks - assuming anyone in kenya has long term contract with police. normally you just walk in and out - daily rate of 1000 for a police man. Police man get 700shs - gov retain 300shs.

There is no evidence there are any threats to these govt building. Just useless mwafrika show of might and silly traditions. Waste of scarce resources.

Though flowery US constitution keeps singing all men are equal that is bullshiet. Gachagua  will have security juvenile jibes aside.
Government has security analysts to advice on deployments of scarce police.

NYS is not a paramilitary unit. It is for civilian works. Will NYS then have to be armed or will it guard the buildings with its tradiotional symbol a spade?

Why do we make possesion of a gun a big deal when in US everyone can carry it.
NYS are trained and are better than many armed watchmen in Uganda.

Why do you need paramilitary training to guard a building?

The police with paramilitary training were NEVER meant to be anywhere near any city - but battling pokot raiders and alshabaab internally - so KDF can focus on external army.

Their paramilitary training is wasted.

NYS should be armed - and if situation escalate they can always call the cops at the police station for backup.

MOST OF OUR PROBLEMS REQUIRE BASIC FIVE COMMON SENSE

NYS is not a paramilitary unit. It is for civilian works. Will NYS then have to be armed or will it guard the buildings with its tradiotional symbol a spade?
