Time Magazine has named Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky and "the spirit of Ukraine" as its 2022 Person of the Year.

Other finalists included protesters in Iran, China's leader Xi Jinping and the US Supreme Court.

The magazine's editor said the decision was "the most clear-cut in memory".

Initially I think Putin thought Comedian was a leader who would see what destruction would do to his country and back off.  He went to great length to avoid civilians target eventhough everyone knew Ukraine military had dissolved to civilian areas. Escalating is in your head. Ukraine just attacked nuclear capable bombers over 500km inside Russian territory! A range which means Moscow 600km from Ukraine can easily be hit also. Who is escalating? Reminds me of the "Dolittle Raid" of WWII when USA hit Japanese homeland at a time Japan deluded themselves that their islands were impenetrable. Uncle Sam was ready to give him a ride out of Kyiv, but he had other ideas.  Back then, it was not obvious(to most, not all) sane people, that Russia is an overrated military power.  I would give him to him just for having balls of steel.

Sometimes i read the posts here and i say what a waste of time. I can freely tell you Ukraine is bigger than you think you know. There is no way Russia can let Ukraine go. It took Catherine the great decades to get it . Putin is the most moderate leader the western nations will get . People crying ukraine here dont even know Ukraine is a nation created by Russia. The so called Modern Ukraine is Russia. One people one nation. Even here during worldcup they are together.
