we burried my friend's brother 4 years ago. he died alone in a room he rented. his sister had become his mother. cooking for him. taking him to hospital and buying his insulin and making sure he took it. he was a very kind hearted man. he loved to cook. he could dress. his nieces adored him but "kombe" took him.
one time he was homeless and living with his sister in her house. her sister would always send the niece to make sure he was safe and well
she went to check on him and found him sprawled on the floor dead drunk.
the kid run up the stairs and shouted mum mum come uncle is on floor he has drunk Kombe..
my people quit Kombe before it takes your dignity and life

1) Don't drink spirits..drink naturally brewed alcohol.

2) Eat good meals proteins and vegetable.

Those yellow eyes traumatized me ... yellow eyes remind me of my dad pancreatic cancer...I use to dream of walking up to see them turn white..they never.Liver disease are worst..I see the white dude skin is yellow. My father had liver cirrhosis in 1970s... hospital told him he won't survive...he did..using traditional medicine... never took changaa again...but eventually 50 yrs pancreatic cancer knocked him out.Liver can recover as long as it's not totally damaged

I have a soda addiction (coke and Fanta) spanning 30 years, but I can control it well. Weekends and anytime there is an occasion. I don't understand why folks that drink alcohol overdo it. I knew this kissii guy that used to drink 24 bottles of beer a day for years. The girlfriend used to complain of low sex drive...and eventually dumped him and married a Luo guy. Now, the Luo guy is an addict to spirits, vodka, and expensive drinks. The same wife complained the other day that the guy drink over $300 a week! My soda costs me about $1.99 a week. Alcoholism ni hasara!

yes it is traumatizing. seeing those jaundiced eye yellow and for mzungu a yellow skin is a reason to quit. alcoholics have 9 lives. the guy that sister took care of would go to hospital in a diabetic coma. the doctors would believe this is the end he won't pull thru but after week in hosi he would get out well enough to go back to work. he even lost hearing in the process. his cardiologist said his heart condition was of a 98 year old.
my neighbor their family has Goan blood which makes them more likely to become alcohol addicts.  the only girl in that family used to drink so much and after months of binge drinking without eating well she would get sick taken knh and after several blood transfusions she would come back home and stop drink for a few months. she used to lose blood during abortions. she ended up dying at 47 years. she had a brain injury a few years before her death. it is claimed that she had bough a jerrican of spirits and was heading home to drink it. some guys wanted to take it and in the process of her fighting them off she fell and was hit by a stone on her head causing swelling of her brain. she was operated on recovered but warned not to ever try getting pregnant. she got pregnant later attempted abortion and he head arteries blew and that was end of her. she was binge drinking from 1983 when I met her to her death at around 2005.

I checked a picture of about 10 friends. I took that picture 2 months before I left kenya. I was surprised that 5 of the guys in the picture are dead. most of the deaths had alcohol involvement. one of the guys has been missing for 2 years now we assume he is dead. my high school best friend got married had 5 kids. he was working for kpl. one Saturday morning he left like he was going to the market to get milk. he never showed up. 12 years later his body has never been found . his wife told me that he was drinking heavily for years and had started going crazy. so she had sought the parents assistance. they had agreed that Saturday was when they would committ him to a mental hospital. he must have sensed that and preempted it.  pombe ni taabu tupu
