Kenyans even if they can afford new clothes - still love Mitumba - for some Mitumba are pretty high class clothing.

I personally buy Mitumba leather shoes...for 5-6K you can get really good quality leather shoes. If you go to Bata - you'll end up with crap that cannot stand the test of time.

If you want real Italian suits and high-end blazers, go to mitumba stores in high-end neighborhoods, and you will be lucky. As for impact - in a potentially close election - such mistakes hurts.
Already Ruto had cast his run as Pro-Poor - while Raila was struggling to fight Dynasty tag.

Wonder how far Rwanda did.
when I was in rural Rwanda...I saw many people in tattered clothing like kenya of before.
Kenya should focus on AGOA - making clothes for export market in the US.
Because Mitumba is question of affordability and poverty.
But with likes of AGOA - nothing stops us from developing a textile industry
The same with leather industry.
The equilbrium of second and new clothes will happen automatically as poverty is sorted over the years.

Coz nobody cares.  It becomes meaningful if the issue can somehow be tied to tribal shifting.  Even hasola does not lose sleep over the fact that folks are being reminded that he is a thief as long as whatever tribal loyalties he has concocted remain intact.

Ruto is still winning. Raila winning it is no longer improbable. He has won Kalonzo back. Before that he was dead. Kalonzo has given him reliable 43-44 the last two election - he gained maDVD but lost 4 percent to Jubilee in 2017 thanks to Ruto - and now again he is stuck - he has gained Uhuru - has lost maDVD and Ruto has added another 4.

In short - expect the usual story -you can start blaming the algorithm - it will be 45v55 or about.
