Mzekezeke - Fosta (2005)

@Termie .. I had been looking for this original version for years. Thankfully I finally found it!

Song meaning "An OG who has high status in the 'hood"

The older these songs get, the better they seem to sound, ama? :D

Jewell ft Aaron Hall

From the soundtrack to one of my favourite movies of the 90's. Nostalgia galore.

RIP Jewell.

Intro ft Father MC - Why don't you.

Reminds me of Jamadelic and all those Jimmy Gathu 5pm music shows in the 90s. Simpler times. Those were the days, my friends :D

Sweet Sable - Old times sake.

DMX - Slipping.
Depressing songs of struggle and pain always hit us differently. When I was going through some stuff during my early colle years, this song helped me cope somewhat.

RIP DMX

Kifo - Remmy Ongala  (Tanzanian) 1989
Found it this week on my playlist from a very old account I had not accessed in 17 years.
Song recorded in the UK under Real World Records.
Album : "Songs for the Poor Man"
Haunting lyrics
He too succumbed in 2010 to what he sung about. This song only makes sense to us once we experience several deaths close to us.

Reminds me of "radios" in the 80s and early 90s. Just like the vinyl record players before them, now deep in the dustbins of history!
