This Pastor Faustin Munishi keyboard is a strange instrument. Very utilitarian. Not seen it anywhere else so it can't be in vogue.

That is an accordion.  It's actually quite common.  Also very popular with Cajun music(I was exposed to it at Mulate's restaurant in Baton Rouge).

L'vovo - Summertime

Reminds my oath ceremony to become a USC. Where they made us wave our mini flags tingla tangla as we sang the Star Spangled Banner. I remember how two very young Kenyans in the military were also in our group, getting ready to get theirs as well. The funny thing is that when I greeted them; "Vipi?" in swa, they seemed highly uncomfortable with identifying with their Kenyan-ness. This song -- from a mixtape I had at the time -- was playing in the car as I drove home. And it just so happened that the season was indeed Summertime! Good memories.

For some reason this gives me similar vibes to Zola.

The best Zydeco music I ever heard was by Terrance Simien at Tipitinas off Bourbon!

Another favourite.
Louisiana is a strange place. It's a part of the US mainland but not really. Very culturally unique. I've said it before, New Orleans and its French Quarter is by far my most favourite city on the mainland!

True indeed. Very similar in many ways. Is Zola still alive? He was huge in 90s and the early 2000's

MJ - They don't really care about us

This Brazilian version was the best one in my modest view. Shot in one of the worst/most dangerous, bloodstained, poorest favelas in Rio just to drive the point home.

Karibu. Those accordions alone make this genre worth it!

Vybe - Summer Daze

Ghost town DJ's - My boo

FP - Summertime

Doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that Summertime was my favourite season while Stateside 😁

By far the best remix of the same

New Edition - If it isn't love (1988)

With one of the catchiest choruses in R&B history, the original was fire 🔥, but the remix burnt the house down! #Memories galore. #GrownFolksMusic 😎
