Kibaki was a gift to kenya
« on: April 29, 2022, 06:15:29 PM »
One wishes he had become president earlier than 2002. His brilliance in 70s & 80s when he was in his prime was self-evident. Sadly the one that became PORK was operating at half capacity - with old age having caught up with him.

H.E Dr. Mwai Kibaki was the first scholar to be awarded a First Class Honors Degree from the Faculty of Economics and Management when he graduated with a First Class Degree (BA) in Economics.

Impressive last paragraph explains him in detail. It also explains why he loved Merus soo much he basically saw his values reflected in the community, simply Merus were loyal to him and never abandoned him for decades while Kikuyus called him kiguoya meaning coward as he wasn't interested in money making and grabbing of public resources  among other thuggish things. This guy was truly God send. May he eternally Rest in Peace.

Kibaki was loathed in Kikuyu proper(read Muranga and Kiambu) because
1. After Independence rather than using money provided by British Colonony to compesate leaving settlers by buying land from them and redistributing to Kenyans (MAU MAU) . He was the architect of Buying and selling the land. With that he made people with Power and Government acquire large chunks of lands as they had a means to finance rhe purchases.
2.When Moi regime decided to finish GEMA in the 80s him being the V.P. stood there and kept silent , even when he was demoted he accepted his fate unlike Matiba who decided to take Moi heads on.

Not all Merus were loyal to kibaki.
It was basically the Imentis - the rest were in KANU.
And same was true in Embu - Embians were in DP - Mbeeres in KANU.
As founder young democrat - I can tell people who liked Kibaki - liked his economic policies.
Kibaki was popular some reason in tea+coffee growing region - these were areas who had decent rural self sufficient economy going on.
In part of Gusii, Machakos, Meru, Embu and Nyeri-kirinyanga-Laikipia Kikuyus.
The rest depended on Moi - either for subsidies like maize or sugar or literally for relief food.
Those who liked kibaki like my dad - knew he was the best economic and finance guy in kenya - people who cared about ECONOMY.
Kibaki NEVER spoke about ANYTHING else.
He simply about UCHUMI.
In 90s people use to deride him as one song (uchumi) boring guy.
The rest were talking about everything - constitution, social reforms, police reforms, land reforms, marginizaltion, name any subject on earth.
Kibaki had no opinion on all those things - believed all problems were economic related.
Kibaki believed you fix the economy - the rest of the things get fixed.
He didnt care about politics or injustices or anything - and that delayed his quest to win power.
Because brain wise - nobody came close - maybe Tom Mboya.

I doubt he was architect of land buying. That has to be before Kibaki came to Kenya.
He was the architect of Africa Socialiasm with Mboya - that counseled gov to invest in high potential areas - and left the rest of kenya as wilderness.
Yes Kikuyus thought he was coward of the county - he was Gen Keugoya - and he was not interested in anything - least of all fighting for anything.
He went to Othaya for weekends and kept very few friends. He was definitely well liked by his Nyeri people - because I think nice honest leader - who was not into any controversy. He would just be happy drinking around like normal guy in Othaya and Nyeri.
He was a reluctant politician - more an intellectual.
Until mid 90s - he was greatest debator in parliament
Then his brain slowly gave up until in his presidency he was operating like a normal president - like MOI - he wasnt the brilliant kibaki with big IQ.He was Moi 2.0 - brain dead.
Where he would eloquently explain issues - he was now mumbling nonsense like Moi - kaa hivyo hivyo pale pale.
The two strokes had finished him.
And yet when he was operating below capacity - he was still able to do great stuff.

Usual eulogy  :) - I heard Ruto & Raila mumbling similar stuff. But when President Mwai Kibaki was in power they wanted him out by hook or crook. They even resorted to PEV and went to the ICC for it.

Kibaki rarely visited Gatuyaini his home village. Villagers used to complain but still they used to vote for him. He spent most of his weekends playing Golf .
Kibakis development record at Othaya Constituency was so bad that only the road leading to his home was tarmacked. However Othaya people seems to have had sense he was going to be President of Kenya so they kept supporting him. Actually the only thing Kibaki was know to have done for Nyeri up until Mid 90s when he became official leader of opposition was building the Nyeri General hospital during his tenure as the Minister of Health. Nyerians would say atleast we got out with something.

I grew up supporting kibaki until 2005 - and disembarked. You are too young to know the real kibaki. The president one was operating at half the capacity.

Sounds like a loner like Saitoti. Saitoti was equally brilliant - I think Mathematics he is top 1000- nailing Phd in one hardest maths discipline at 20s..algebraic topology. Both Mangu alumnis.

Article says he had a serious operation in 1976 (I wonder for what and did his health problems begin from that point on?) What surprised me about Kibaki was how he left his siblings destitute. He should have helped them improve their economic situation. Charity begins at home.

I will say that his adult children have done the right thing by staying out of politics.  I wonder if they'll manage all the money he left them? Look at how the others have done? Moi's grand-son is broke? Michuki's son is being accused of killing a man. Africans rarely seem to be able to keep even their stolen wealth.

Track record yako mbaya sana. You disembarked from Kibaki to Raila - then Uhuru - now they are both evil. If Raila or Uhuru dies you would say similar stuff.

Kibaki brain is something you cannot take away.
Raila reckless stupidity and courage is something you cannot take away.
Uhuru pombe is something you cannot take away

Ruto I believe will become the best ever...because he the most complete politician...Tom Mboya comes 2nd.

You need to educate yourself on the land policy post independence . On one side were rhe Bildad Kaggia, Jaramogi Odinga  on the other side were Kenyattas , Angaine and Kibakis.
This is deeper than the siasa of pesa nane which was introduced by Raila since 2002.

I was for Kibaki but after 2007 debacle that saw millions of Kenyans uprooted all over Kenya, I was done with him. I remember arguing with DP on the phone in 2009-2011 over that. He, as well, believed then that his Hague troubles started as a result of Kibaki stealing votes and subsequent fighting that ensued. I don't forgive Kibaki for that because DP got almost charged because of his reckless actions. DP is the most peaceful person in the world and almost got his name tainted!

I refuse to believe that the DP had nothing to do with the PEV in the rift valley. He knew exactly what his Kalenjins were up to and for older Kikuyu's, they'll never be forgiveness for him for what he did with the PEV. The ICC will be part of his and uhuru's "legacies"

What Ruto knew is what I know now. That kalenjin could erupt and fight. That is all.
Nobody - not prov admin - not NIS - name anybody knew PEV would happen.
People knew Kibaki would rig. Ruto knew he would rig. He was not going to become Africa 1st  incumbent to lose power.
That is why he wanted Kalonzo as top of the ticket.
If Ruto had anything to do with PEV - trust me the evidence would be overwhelming - Ruto has enemies and rivals in rift valley from here to wherever. The Mois were attacked. Kanu guys and PNU guys like my dad attacked.

Kalenjin are exactly like Maasai.
They are ever ready for war.
They just need a war cry.
It's like Luos and stones.
Nobody need to really organize Kondele gangs to stone people.
Kalenjin its like mini kondeles all over.

The only differnece btw Kalenjin and Maasai - Kalenjin stopped carrying their weapons and keep them in their houses.
Otherwise if Maasai were to fight - they just fight.

I was personally there in rift valley until 2nd week of january.
I refused to be evacuated.
I saw most of the things.

There were many idle rumours but generally fighting just started - initially in our place - as respond to police killing demonstrators - and in most areas as way to stop police mascaraing Luos.

Generally ODM had demos - then police started shooting people - and the hell broke loses.

Those on highway also when they saw Kisumu morgues were full - decided to block roads...dig highways...fell trees..initially to stop police from moving to Kisumu.

But generally it was just rumor's propelled attacks - and copy-paste - actions by rowdy youths.

What is not in DOUBT - KIBAKI PLANNED TO RIG AND PLANNED TO MASSACRE LUOS WHO HE KNEW WOULD ERUPT.

He never saw Kalenjin...and that became his blindspot. The evil plan of Kibaki men was rig and crush Luo resistance in a week - and go back to stealing.

He had assembled thousands troops in Kisumu and Nairobi slums - and they wasted no time to fill up the morgues - and yet these were mostly demos that were not that violent - just stone throwing and burning of cars or properties. Luos had not killed anybody to massacred. Kalenjin nation responded partly to stop Kibaki massacre of Luos. Kibaki was sending reinforcement to kisumu every day - until people decided to block all the roads.

I refuse to believe that the DP had nothing to do with the PEV in the rift valley. He knew exactly what his Kalenjins were up to and for older Kikuyu's, they'll never be forgiveness for him for what he did with the PEV. The ICC will be part of his and uhuru's "legacies"

You guys read about Ruto in the news, blogs, and on TV while us grew up with him in the same household. DP and violence are worlds apart. He apparently has not forgiven some of Kalenjins that participated in the violence. Any leader cannot control any group especially the violent few amongst us. The death and suffering that people went through lies squarely on those that stole votes knowing well how crude Africans can be. If election was peaceful and integrity-driven, no kikuyu, Kalenjin, Luo, or any Kenyan would have been hurt. That is what DP tries everyday to see Kenya be a country free of electoral theft! Kibaki hurt is fellow Kikuyus heavily and no one will take that away from him
