Btw like Luos and Somalis - Kalenjin keep their family history intact - tracing many generations back. I found a chart in my late father library that has our family tree way back probably to 17th century.

It is about 97% accurate based on the more I know about the family. Mzee was born in 1924 in Kiptere Kericho, not 1914, as stated. When there are weddings and significant events in that family, I usually wonder why there are boatloads of Kipsigis-speaking folks. Politically this could be why Isaac Ruto could not dislodge DP in Bomet and the entire south Rift. DP is the king of Kipsigis, Nandi, and the rest subtribes. As long as he is alive, 100% of Kalenjins will be with him.

Yes, I think in 1997 and 2002 Mp election his opponents in parliamentary seat - Sainas and Chesire - were trying to uncover his kipsigis roots and root went to great length to hide it - but as he became a national leader - he has acknowledged his roots. But even without kipsigis roots - Kipisigs would still support him 100% - KIpsigis were last guys to leave Moi - Kipsigis do not like Ruto like Siasa - Raila type of siasa ya fujo - it only flows in Gusii majority region of Bomet East and Chebalungu. Kipsigis proper - that is Kericho - really value peaceful consensus. You'll see how Isaac will bite the dust like he did in 2007.

I was an errand boy in his 1997 campaign. I think a FORD moron that morphed into an ODOMO in Eldoret town (Kipkorir Menjo) was the only one trying to push that narrative. Saina, the Laibon, was a Kalenjin nation patriot who saw no difference in Nandi and Kipsigis. At the same time, Chesire, being a Tugen, had no right to bring such nonsense in the Nandi region. I think Isaac will lose fair and square if he contests on CCM. However, if he somehow ditches his one-man party for UDA, I think Barchok will have a tough night. The six-piece voting is deadly in strongholds because it sweeps even high-profile candidates. A politician is stupid to go against a famous regional kingpin. In Bondo, you will get 2 votes when you go against jaCon, and the same in Bomet against the DP.

Okay - understood - coz I remember hearing kipsigis tag way back in the 90s.

Everyone else has joined UDA - his party is empty - Zakaya Cheruiyot, the two CCM Mps, all mcas, name it - there is no one standing in CCM - and yet Isaac spend a lot of money (bomet county) building it.

Yes if Isaac join UDA he would probably win.

Problem - UDA county cordinator is former Isaac Ruto deputy governor - a Mr mutai - who he mistreated because he was allied to William Ruto.

So no way he will join UDA - which is great news for us - because he will face his waterloo in general election.
