Apartments quality -

I know you are into buying apartments in Nairobi. Do you consider who built the apartment? I know Chinese usually cut corners a lot in China. That how they are able to build them ghost cities everywhere. In Kenya I was wondering who controls the quality of the materials and workmanship especially if you hire a Chinese company to do the construction. One the big problems of big Condos and apartments buildings is the maintenance after you purchase the property. my college roommate was living in lavington in the 90s and back then I think his family had paid I think over 3 million for an apartment but within several years the bricks started falling off and the the building was in a state of disrepair.

How do you guarantee that you do not run into these problems?

I seeen the new madness in economics ya mawe Nairobi is apartments for sale all over West of Nairobi Pangani and Parklands. I understand Chinese contractors are the ones doing most of these projects

It's really depends. If you're buying from Indian,Somali,Eritrea, mzungu, mkenya or well established company. I would avoid Kenyan or somali.

Secondly if apartment has decent service fee - then it will be maintained.

Maintenance is a culture...

Your friend should do his part - by continuously repairing and repainting the house.

What is really lacking in Kenya is govt. So, greed takes over and in the end kills, maims, or destroys people's lives.
People are supposed to police themselves and in many cases everyone is at risk.
Roads are built but no provision for ongoing maintenance, or shoddy contractors take the money and barely do any maintenance.
Serious lack of govt.

No what is really lacking in Kenya is integrity. People are devoid of moral character. We have government, the people who are entrusted with enforcing its writ are rotten to the core. In otherwise the problem with Kenya is Kenyans themselves.
