The best solution is to call Lonyangapuo, Kamama and Kamket - find out what exactly is making pokot be this wild. It maybe simple solution of providing them with water bowser as they battle drought.

Yes I believe providing them water - is one solution. The pokots and others are facing an existential threat from desertification. They need water - and their cattle need water and pasture.

The gunshots are definitely not g3 or ak47 - but m16 - they have upgraded their weapons.

Gov will screw this up... Pokot are not folks you push to a wall...they will fight to last man. You need to talk to their leaders - and find out what exactly is going on - and they will solve the problem

Brits tried and failed. Jomo tried. Moi did an expedition almost every year - nothing. He arrested Pokots leaders- nothing. Kibaki was most friendly to Pokot and Marakwet - and they were very peaceful - even in 2007 - they refused to be involved in PEV

Uhuru and Ruto went hard on pokot after cries from Tugen and Marakwet nothing - doing.

Pokot need to be heard. You may discover they dont need a lot - just water and some pasture for their cattle.

Disagree; talk to warriors in Eldoret/UG, and they will tell you for free that Pokots were heavily involved with their guns, especially in Langas and Kimumu areas. For any victim killed by a gunshot and not by police, 99% it was Pokots in the area. These folks need to be dealt with once and for all, or they will keep shooting at every opportunity.

okay - for now - it's KANU crew of Kamama - who seem to be the warlord of pokot - but what once and for all strategy - I think it's going to take a lot of work to tame them - but first they need development - especially roads, schools, water - Aror dam kind of -

Instead of listening to the elected leaders who also own herds, they are arrested by imposed chiefs, police and tembeas.

Last time they disappeared 'leaders' - cyclical drought has no leaders. It is basic survival.

Pundito, recall Ruto strategy of arming KPR sometimes back in Baringo?

Looks like Matiangi overturned it or it flopped and the guns disappeared

Anyways, methinks if you turned Pokot land into an oasis then a

 The surrounding raiders kina Toposa, Karamoja and Oromo would have a field day raiding them.

Same failed strategy since British time. They should try to supply them water instead. Build Aror dam and pipe water to Pokot. Moi send police expedition almost every year - jailed Lotodo and Phoghisio for 1-2yrs each - nothing doing.

KPR and GSU should be stop gap measure as they find permanent solution to unsustainable pastoralism.

Pokot=Afganistan.

Prof Lonyangapuo the current governor is only guy who has genuinely attempted to fix pokot - west pokot is nearly fixed. Shida sasa ni Pokots of Baringo East.

The Prof started way back as university chancellor...Baringo East should be ceded to  West Pokot county.
