Tues 10th August 2027, Election Day
Big swing to Hichilema, and size of the gap between Hichilema and Lungu - and also the 50%+1 threshold required for a first round victory - is likely to force President Lungu to accept defeat.Zambia will have a transfer of power, it is just a question of how soon.— Nic Cheeseman (@Fromagehomme) August 14, 2021

Zambia is broke; EUrobond is killing it; they are paying 18 percent interest;
Yield vs coupon, two different things, read up my friend!
I previously warned that President Lungu was trying the Trump strategyIt is now looking worryingly like he will refuse to stand down & push for the election to be cancelledThis is deeply worrying and risks pushing Zambia to the brinkHe has failed to put the nation first https://t.co/W7K0IdSHDb pic.twitter.com/jAb9QtaEDb— Nic Cheeseman (@Fromagehomme) August 14, 2021

Look like a serious dog-beating - 65 vs 35%. Lungu fool needs to concede. He can join Goodluck Jonathan as incumbents who peacefully conceded defeat.

I have no idea what are the dynamics of Zambian politics are. In Kenya(tribe), TZ(CCM dominance), UG, Rwanda(authoritarians). I wonder what really animates them when they get in the voting booth.
It appears as tribal as any african country. There seem to be Northern and Southern Divide - with East and West - providing the swing. The guy who won is from Southern Zambia tribe of Tonga - and party is strong there.It peaceful country coz it entirely Bantus.Quote from: bitmask on August 16, 2021, 05:35:20 PMI have no idea what are the dynamics of Zambian politics are. Yes, they are literally all Bantus, and very closely related Bantus to boot. But given how Somalia works, it might still be a big deal.
