Can you all help me with my ebola review?
« on: October 13, 2014, 05:52:38 PM »
Perhaps we can publish the next review together. With all your intimate knowledge of the ins and outs insider knowledge we could write a review on tackling ebola and other potential virus threats.

We need to first formulate a question using "PICO" in this case the review will be about bioterrorism.

Veritas
Too many unknowns even after almost 40yrs. Microbiologists dont really know the transmission method. Give it 5yrs now that its come into focus.
What if terrorists went to Liberia, purposely gets infected and then goes all over the world spreading it???
A catastrophy of unimaginable proportions!!!

Veritas,
This is a highly contagious disease. A microdrop of HIV has 100 viruses, and will not cause an infection, but a microdrop of Ebola has 10,000 viruses. That is a fact.

Dear Parker, thanks for info. I don't need to go near ebola for conducting a systematic review. All I need is good variances, sample sizes, p- values. That's it. My focus is not on biology, it's on geopolitics and bioterrorism.

Ebola viruses  are clearly nanostructures. I think if we can move from molecular to subatomic world, where nano particles can be developed which prevent the virus from mutating would be a breakthrough. But am still not too sure whether nanotechnology would be a smart investment or just a mirage.

The present world population is 7 billion and counting lol. Keep in mind that In the 21st century global economy advanced technological fields such as robotics (which is improving exponentially as we speak) have almost rendered low skilled human labor absolete in manufacturing. Even in service industries the future is bleak as singularity and cybernetics takes shape. On the other hand there is an increasing burden on non-renewable resources, environmental damage and the threat of extinction of several plant and animal species. Wether or not it's manmade, Ebola is here, as any ecologist would tell ya. Godspeed y'all.

By the way, all those people that used to complain that NASA is wasting time on Mars, sorry. They were looking for a place to settle your arze so that they didn't have to wipe you out with stardust hehehe. On the other hand all those rich folk that invested heavily in 2012 bunkers might finally put them to good use to ride the Ebola storm of it gets out of hand. The other lucky pals are the Cosmonuts aboard ISS living off of their recycled piss and Agmadinejads worm and space monkey.

Thanks everyone.

Didn't know they were nanostructures, v. Interesting.

I suspect ebola spread manmade, not sure if someone actually made it though. .

Space monkey ? Ok. .

Veri I'm just ranting as usual, perhaps reacting to one of the best reads I've had in a while, the animal trials of early Europe. Those people were so advanced they'd probably have an Ebola virus lawyer to defend the worm. I was reading that the Spanish PETA are marching the streets protesting that the nurses dog suspected of having Ebola should be hospitalized and not euthanized.

They should treat the pooch. Of course. Animal trials in Europe... I'm quite drugged at the moment, just came back from the hospital. Exhausted from figuring out how to use crutches. I'm taking a nap. What are you doing?

What happened to you? I hope you weren't trying to run across the road in 6 inches like I suggested lol.

3 inches and yes. I was walking across the road in my heels on a rainy day clutching onto my delicious coffee then I slipped. Coffee flying, umbrella flying, what a mess! I don't want to think about it. Last time it happened I broke my ribs.

Wow, sounds like quiete a scene. Youz a trooper you'll be well in no time. Just make sure you drink your chicken broth lol, and learn to walk in flats. Rain and heels can never be cute.  Don't worry it's temporary use that time to develop depth hehehe. You got to get some utility out of it right?

Yesterday. Throbbing pain all night. Just came back from the hospital. Had to catch a taxi this morning because I couldn't walk at all.
