Ruto has no revolutionary bone in his body. Raila is mercurial and has a huge axe to grind. The owners of kenya - Moi/Kenyatta - will back Ruto long before they think of Raila. Ruto is the guy they despise as lacking pedigree - and whom they only fear - for his ability to beat them in their stealing game. They don't fear Ruto.
Raila is the guy they fear.
The next phase of our politics I predict is for Mois/Kenyattas to negotiate with Ruto. The same way Daniel Moi had no problem with Kibaki winning - but would have gone to exile if Raila was PORK.
