In political freedoms; yes; but life in uganda is very cheap; food so plentiful'; the variety more than in kenya; alcohol very cheap; that is why Museveni despite all that; is going for live presidency. Yes anything imported is more expensive than kenya - phones, electronics - but other stuff like clothes - are cheaper.

And really there is no prov admin or police intruding in people lifes - alcohol is sold in dukas - weed is everywhere (that is part I really enjoyed :))

Feels like a mini Ethiopia still worse than Kenya.
Pundit there is no substitution for freedom nothing, don't be fooled eti you can a good life without that, that's why China even with its economic muscle never ranks anywhere close to the west when it comes to citizen empowerment. You become mere robots of the state and they fool you with cheap alcohol, food etc.

Our generation is hopeless having been screwed by capitalism. In the 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s that generation was invested in humanism and wanted better for all across the world. They were able to organise across continents. Old men in Murang'a would send conman Kenyatta to London; Likes of Che Guevarra would come to Congo to fight with Patrice Lumumbas. We are so screwed up with illusions of good life which is but a mirage seeing how the supposedly successful people are now dying of breathing complication which is a nursery school science.

While the despots seem to be accumulating more power in the short term claiming you are spreading corona; in the coming decade we will get several Gaddaffi moments.

I never expected it to unravel in the Washington swamp the way it is! I was expecting Slovakia, Belarus, Nigeria and such to take the dump first. It is inevitable as the uselessness of governments whose only welfare is for the 1 percenters is exposed. Corona is certainly a reboot button. I do not discount emegence of guerillas to join Bobi Wine or Tigrays from bolivia or Kenya.  Alshabaab destructive ideology has done it, it is probably some time for some humanistic guerillas to organise.

Crap. China has lifted nearly a billion out of poverty. What more freedom is more important than freedom from poverty, hunger and disease. Political personal freedoms are great but they are actual luxuries. China has climbed in almost every indices - but you don't expect to compare itself to the west yet - they are maybe another generation from their - they are not a developed world yet.

Countries in the gulf never enjoy any freedom with sharia law - but if you go to Dubai, Qatar and such - they are living the life!! The lack of democracy is of a little interest to them - the kings and princes - can continue - as long as people are happy and free from poverty.

I thought M7 was Ruto's model?  :D

African dictators will always be brutal and act with murderous impunity because Africans by nature are thuggish and heartless.

Sleep is good, death is better; but of course, The best would be never to have been born at all.
