Kenya won't even last that long at this rate. They are busy building parks while  gutting the core of the nation and tinkering with its revenue sharing formula. The ecological side is not looking good either, runaway population, dwindling resources.

They prefer being in power so they can loot but damn this look very bad you got to feel sorry for them. I mean how do you get played by a stoned drunkard from ichaweri!  Premium tears after killing and stealing the elections for the drunkard so you can steal. No honor among thieves.

That is it. Pundit is surprised by the turn of events. You steal together, but one side wants to keep all the loot. It is normal for thieves.

Judiciary need to flex its muscle but not without official political opposition, civil society and western envoys. Most of  the civil society Wambugu Ngunjiri or Aaron Ndumbi types are in bed with Raila "opposition". They want him to beat Ruto so they are playing blind and deaf. Ruto does not have Raila network in civil society. Usually civil society need tactical political leadership like Raila or even Imanyaras, Orengos, Muites - otherwise they retreat to their cocoons. It hard to rattle them without serious threat - like say extending PORK term - they must see retiring Uhuru as passing cloud. Basically so long us their "own" - activists, journalists, judges - are not in trouble they don't care much for purely political feuds. I hope when they attempt to replace Maraga with a lurky civil society will wake up before it's too late. Otherwise the rise of China has largely blunted envoy or donor power.

Uhuru is clearly unhinged.

The Judiciary should declare laws made through such intimidation tactis null and void.

They need to sue the banks and state.

This only way to safeguard democracy.

If Pundit had such ideology - like I - he would back Raila or even Mdvd. Ruto is a Dubya conservative, small govt, African values and God- fearing, bla bla. Just another Moi wolf in sheep skin. Pundit real ideology is tribalism. :)

That said, I don't agree with Kadudu or GeeMail insinuations that Pundit is responsible for Uhuru lunacy. That a dogmatic stand. Damascus moments are intrinsic in democracy. If Raila wins and become a despot I would equally dump him. Slack I will cut a competitor will not work for an incumbent.

Most of you confuse when I speak as Pundit and as Me. Pundit dispense dispassionate punditry. Me as a person I have my own beliefs. I am a liberal, pro-women, pro-democracy, atheist, I also climate change denilaist, many things.

I may support Ruto but I don't deny he is corrupt thief. I just think he has more positive than negatives...compared to his competitor.

I voted Sonko but don't approve his thuggery.

Pundit will you swear on a sacred book that you never spoke of clearing anything and anybody standing in the way of Orutu in 2013 and 2017? We still remember your conversations with Omollo. You know even the internet forgets but Nipate never does.

Kenyans are not fools.  Kenyans know this was an attempted coup by an arrogant,  super ambitious,  Vice President, which failed and not a national fight for democracy that Raila and his followers used to wage across the country. Why is Ruto fighting his boss? All he had to do was be patient, loyal, humble  and he would inherit ouru's empire without a fight. The notion that Ruto is fighting to increase the democratic space in Kenya is laughable.  That is why the civil society is not buying it.

Yes - activists are not bothered by purely political feuds and competition - which is what this really is. Ruto needs 5 years as kiongozi ya upinzani to get any credibility in the civil society. I foresee a temporary vacuum in activism if Luo become the regime.

No Damascus moment here more like crocodile tears due to lost opportunity to loot. 'Looter inside'

Wow! You guys are unloading on poor Pundit. Talk about kicking a man while he is down.

People have forgotten about the shetani kubwa and are fixated on Ruto. I find that unbecoming. Uhuru is dismantling all norms by locking up elected representatives and you are still bleating about Ruto.

But that's exactly the point. If Uhuru dismantles everything constitutional like he's doing, imagine Kenya if the DP inherits it. That is the main reason arrested senators does not bother most Kenyans. We've seen worse and they same senators were clapping. Moses Kuria is the poster boy of mad system cheerleaders. Raila is keen on a one-term Mandela like legacy so there is a chance he will do factory reset.

Seems like Maraga has also given up. NSIS must have dug up some shit on him. He is waiting for retirement queitly. It is all downhill now -hopefully corona gets Treasury broke asap and sober up Uhuru a bit; otherwise the shithole we are headed into in next 1 year.

The 'toa moi' generation of civil society got coopted into the government and those who remained outside got filthy rich from NGO boom lasting 2003-2014 when Uhuruto dried the taps due to ICC. This group is a lost cause or tired/retired.

Only twitter/Facebook guerrilas are at it and they are doing well.

Kenyans are bothered that is why the police had to disperse crowds after Malala was released

Yes Uhuru is 11th hour despot and the "evil society" [sic] couldn't care less.

I see it as strictly 2022 dogfight. Ruto has Kikuyu slipping through his fingers. Notice how loudly silent Ichung'wa and Kuria are on the all-important formula. Uhuru is retiring - think he is quietly handing over tribal reins to PK. Bloke been gracing all the Atwoli-Murathe conclaves in the small Babylon at Ildamat.
