... and make sure you contribute the Ksh 760..
. and don't be a member of the stingy men association of kenya.
IMF EXECUTIVE BOARD: PETITION TO THE IMF TO CANCEL THE KSH255 BILLION LOAN TO KENYA - Sign the Petition! http://chng.it/HRRX9b7L via @Change

An apt case of even if the stone does not answer you back, it has heard. .. even if they left social media..... Itakuwa imewafikia....

signed but will IMF really listen to this. Kenya opposition is in bed with gov. Civil society is dead.
-
Ask yourself who is IMF?

Well, good question, the more pressure the better, but ultimately with NASA in bed with Uhuru, UDA/RUto folks need to step up and oppose their own gov.
Anyway baby steps;
Ask yourself who is IMF?

USA is trying to outcompete China debt diplomacy without having to send any troups to the ground like Chinaman (e.g. CRBC, CCEC...)
The Betchel deal look to have flopped.. perhaps bidenstan will resurrect through infrastructure bills.

IMF Can choose to ignore the petition now at 105k but they know should country go to dogs they will have nowhere to recover their money. Uhuru is one messed up guy. He needs to be stopped.
-
if it get to a million; maybe they will listen. But without IMF loan; Kenya is going bankrupt.

Waste of time. IMF is Kenya's last resort. Otherwise we can give China our port and other KPA facilities. Who wants that?
Btw, why is it the people who voted Jubilee three times are now crying more than the bereaved?
Choices have consequences.
-
At 148k. Gatheca needs to sober up kwani wapi mum to bring him to his senses. This Uhuru gatheca is the one that makes people hate alcohol. Pombe si mbaya watu ndio wabaya.

We were told USA and Japan had higher loans vs their GDP compared to kenya. What has changed? Should we not be doing better than USA and Japan? You vote for a thief don't come crying here. Choices have consequences. Let us finish the country with Uhuru.

Yes 154k; this thing could get 1M by the week end. IMF has got to at least pretend to listen now.

Did Uhuru start drinking yesterday? You voted for a drunkard and you expect sober judgement from him. The Uhuru you voted for three times is the same fellow you are facing in 2021.

We voted UhuRuto - then it became UhuRaila - therefore we feel betrayed and cheated. We voted UhuRuto in 2013 and they delivered in 2017 - enough to get extra 1Million votes. Now if we were to vote again in 2022 - we will certainly vote Uhuru and Raila out - and vote Ruto in.

Nope try again, the handcheque period doesn't count :D

Watu wakule ujeuri yao. Hizo loans zi come.

Kenya entered debt cycle around 2015, that's when private sector lending rate started declining https://data.worldbank.org/indicator/FS.AST.PRVT.GD.ZS?locations=KE . The capping of rate only exacerbated the situation and allowed jubilee government to borrow cheaply locally.
What's important now its to know the IMF conditions , ndio to jipange.
-
But Jubilee 1.0 delivered and improved it vote count from 50% to 55% - which is unprecedented - I mean in 2nd term gov become unpopular. The reality is my man delivered - he worked really hard at it - and if Uhuru had not got jealousy that Ruto outstole him - things would be fine.
COVID-19 is punishment from god on Uhuru :) for betraying Jubilee.
This handshake gov is really jinxed.
Nope try again, the handcheque period doesn't count :D

But post capping - the interest rates are very low - but somehow the banks are not lending - except the microloans; But why 2015? Jubilee gov claims we got so much rain agricluture has now grown to nearly 35% of GDP (could be sign of serious cooking!!!)
Anyway things are elephant with COVID-19 and IMF will be running the show. Of course the usual conditionalities will apply - tighten your seat belts - raise taxes - reduce expenditure - and the reforms - maybe sell KQ - fix KPLC? - and hopefully we can privatize some of the big parastals. Maybe they can tell Uhuru to forget BBI nonsense.
Anyway things are so thick nobody want finance ministry - Wariah who last smiled 5yrs ago - will probably abandon it and run to Marsabit soon :). This is akin to Moi era when fished Masakhalia from his VW beetle and made him the finance minister :) - treasury was so broke - there was nothing to steal.
Wariah is unable to pay counties....salaries were last paid in January :)

Facetious: a remark not meant to be taken seriously or literally: amusing; humorous.

Factual; 6% average growth rate; That is unprecedented;10K new tarmac roads; 5M electricity connection or 20M more people. Jubilee 1.0 delivered. And the verdict was on 21st August 2017. It passed with flying colors.
This one has completely FAILED.

10K what? 10,000km road?
Mbona you accept everything like a kindergarten toddler and worse bring it here for adults to read? What is the diameter of the planet you live on? In case you skipped half your geography lessons, the answer is the diameter of the Earth is 12,742 km. So you are saying a country that loses 2B daily has built roads (TENA TARMAC ROADS) capable of stretching from South pole to North pole (or close) in 5 years?
You bring plain falsehoods here and when we give you truths like telling you that are too old already to go looking for young girls to sleep with, you just go on yapping.

Toilet.Com escapee!
This is normally beyond your paygrade.
Yes Jubilee paved roads - are nearly 10,000km
Jubilee found paved Kenya had paved about 10,000kms
As of KNBS latest stats - Kenya paved road network is now 20,000kms - with Jubilee doing almost 2,000kms paved road every year
Albeit low seal volume
Kenya road network is now 250,000kms - so paved network is still 10% - and we have a long way to go - and need to really double down - and INVEST
heavily
When Ruto become PORK - I expect he will pave 100,000kms in 10yrs - or well 10 times round the earth :). It can be done. It has been done.
Without corruption - we can bring KM of paved road to something like 30-40m - and therefore to pave 1,000kms is mere 300bKshs....and therefore to do 100 times that is mere 3 trillion Kshs (30B dollars).
30B dollars is very possible if Kenya can issue a 50 or 100 yr infrastructure bond - and jump start it by selling Safaricom and others.

Look like 200K will be hit tonight; Let see if we can get to a million; IMF will have to listen to 1m kenyan voices.
-
Too late. Where were you when Jubilee 1.0 was busy giving out Eurobonds? The Eurobonds have led Kenya to where it is today. Many economists warned Kenya against these expensive loans in the open market and we have landed just where the same economists predicted Kenya would land.
Kenya has to swallow the bitter pill and accept the IMF conditions. There is no other option.

We want IMF to run Kenya gov - because clearly Uhuru is unable. IMF now have kenya permission to meddle in our affairs. We have told them Uhuru is no good - now I expect IMF to be embolden and institute a power grab in kenya ;) - and run the show from upper hill :) :)

:) i recall battling with someone about borrow & build "China model". People can rant or politicize but this is the heart of the matter. Rail or roads should be fixed like the old stretch Nairobi to Nanyuki upgrade for pocket change - not through mountains of Chinese and European debt. There never should have been any new SGR to nowhere but cheap upgrades.

You're wrong. Nobody will ever complain of infrastructure built from borrowed money. Jubilee 1.0 build the country foundation. Jubilee 2.0 has BORROWED more - than Jubilee 1.0 - and there is no infrastructure going on as big as SGR - the borrowing is now being used for budget support - aka recurrent expenditure - to pay salaries and such. Now that is worst kind of borrowing.
IMF and WB loans - are worse kind - coz unlike China they are not tied to brick and mortar - they are money just used to prop the budget - more like Eurobond. The money disappears in huge budget hole and yet has to be repaid for generations.
Kenya should borrow money from china - and ring-fenced it to infra - and you can never go wrong there.
SGR will outlast all of us here - solid investment - that 100yrs from now - will still be generating income.

And the fail to say that Raila in 2019 whipped his ODM Mps to raise the debt ceiling in Parliament.
Raila is as Guilty as charged.

Raila or Ruto is just the politics. Borrow & build is not a viable development model. Even if no single coin is looted it would still flop.

:D so this thread naively thought IMF cares about public opinion. "Uniting" will work when Kenyans vote for Bonny Mwangi or Omtata - i believe their approval rating is not even enough for MCA. While the thieves are more popular than Jesus.

Then you know how ignorant the electorate is in Kenya.

That only works if jobs and technology is passed to the locals.
Today Kenya cannot even build on its own 1 km of railway line.
SGR biggest mistake was not using local materials. Most materials even cement was imported from China. Today even a footbridge over the highways in Nairobi is imported from China.
Polemics. Borrow and Build is solid.
-
Nope. We did the analysis and noone ever made it though borrowing without some other lever. Anyway it a dead horse no need to rehash.

Entire banking and finance industry exist to lend - :) and people borrow to build stuff; it's call a LEVER; leverage; If you're waiting for kenya to get money of it's own; then it gonna be a long wait.
Credit to individuals, private sector, public sector and gov is KEY to growth!!!!!!!!!
But of course you have to be extremely careful with borrowing - interest rate can kill you for example.

And you expect Uhuru to be very popular next year - he will determine who succeed him. Uhuru has returned Kenya to Moi dark days. Kibaki is looking increasingly like a saint. GEMA want nothing to do with Uhuru - not even people of Gatundu or Kiambu are proud of what he has done.
Ruto is very luckily to have got off the sinking boat early.
This what happens when Mlevi tries to drive the economy. Ruto could have DONE WAY BETTER even with COVID.
