Have no sympathy for Gachagua or kiuks but problem with Raila and his supporters is excitability and falling for smoke screens. For how long is Raila going to fall for this gimmicks? Right now he is being distracted sijui with AU and airport appearances until the finance bill passes which is very punitive to Kenyans. In a normal environment, he would be out there leading people to the streets but for right now, I guess we have to live with overtaxation without debate or proper representation but guess what, Raila was seen at the airport waving goodbye at Museveni and that gives us a good feeling and hope. The only thing I do not understand is why this is always viewed as a kikuyu issue, there should be a national conversation on this issue and I think it’s important. Places like Nairobi, Kisumu, Kisii etc should highly involved and represented in this debate. This has nothing to do with correcting historical injustices( this is important too) but more money following where it’s needed the most to cater for growing populations, migration and lifestyle changes. Right now, migration is favouring urban and suburban areas in all the counties, from agriculture subsistence to other industries, I think money should follow this treads, half of Somalis singing historical injustices live in Nairobi, coast etc looking at Nairobi, with its population growth and slums everywhere, you cannot help marvel at how much investment is needed to turn that place around. That sijui affordable housing thing is akin to putting a bandaid on a bullet wound, the problems are deep and widespread. In Kenya though, those who are on both side of the debate are only thinking of how much can go their pockets, it’s a sad place.
